11814, Knock sensor?
Posted by Michael_97RS, Jan-10-02 10:29 AM
Since the future plans are timing adjustment and high compression, I really am going to need if she is knocking and I can't here it.

Does anybody have a light hooked up to flash if the motor is knocking? If so how did you wire it up? Any ideas? Thanks. I'm redoing parrts of my interior and want to put the light in soon.

I think Armond has a Knock sensor mounted in the cockpit, I think it was right by the ashtray or in the ashtray hole now.. dont remeber but I would like more info also, cause i hate not knowing whether my engine is being hurt or not..

its not a simple matter though. You need to be able to explicitly identify knock, and ignore all the other noises the engine makes. I'd suggest the best thing to do is search on the net for some ideas.

- here's a neat knock sensor, but I've no idea how you'd calibrate it:

Argh, I even looked at the MSD site before posting. Guess I didn't look hard enough. Here's our solution then.

how does it work and hook up?

the box has 3 wires. power/ground/ and signal wire. the map sensor comes with an adapter to thread it into teh back of our block in one of the blank bolt holes. you pulg the signal wire to the knock senor provided, and you are set (I find it best to turn the sensitivity of the sensor all the way down.)

bring it on............

Hey Armond what bolt hole did you use?

Looks like $143 at Summit, know of any better price anywhere?
