117782, rpm problem... Posted by ghostR1, Nov-02-07 06:03 AM
I have been having some engine problem, my rpm needle would at times drop at idle from 900 revolutions to the point where i thought it would just stall but it doesn't. I also noticed that every time i would put it in first gear and let go of the clutch slowly, that is with out accelerating, the rpm needle would just drop instantly to about 300 i would then quickly accelerate but rpm needle wont rise quickly as it should. Some have said it might be a vacuum leak, others are saying to check the iac/isc valve. I dont know really where to start looking, any feedback would greatly be appreciated. By the way i have 420a 2.0L engine. also, I check the spark plugs that i had recently replace, and noticed that one or 2 plugs had oil on them, i doubt the plugs are causing the problem. Thanks in advance.

You should check out your IAC. Its either behind the throttle body or behind your intake pipe, can't remember exactly which one.
