I couldnt find this in the search, i looked through 6 pages i promise.

anyways, i have the AFX UDP and my belts squeel....

If i go in and tighten up the altenator tension then the sqeeling stops.... for a while, and then comes back. After about a year of tightening my altenator every couple weeks i decided to see if anyone else has a better solution?

Im wondering if my altenator is not bad? I just had to replace my battery last weekk. When i use my heater, or roll down my windows, or even use my blinkers it squeels louder... i cant remember correctly but i believe i bought the gatorback belts, i know for a fact i threw the ones away that howell sent me. How do i make this bitch stop screaming??

fix the tensioner for the belt on the alt? it shouldnt loosen up after a few weeks. and as for needing a new alt, take yours out, and get it tested at the auto parts store.

I didnt realize they could test altenators. If i took the car to the shop could they test it without me having to take it out?

The car has just over 100,000 miles and its never been replaced. How long should they last?

Spray wd-40 on the pulley and inside that connect to the engine this will help get by till, you fix it.

mine does the same when it rains, or humid in the engines. I looked the culprit is that it comes underneath and theres cover for it.

I actually just went out and checked the altenator again and the tension bolt and the bolt on the side were both finger loose.... so i just tightened them AGAIN. Squeeling gone unless i have every accessory turned on then it only does it a little, which i can live with. I must just not have the bolts torqued down tight enough...

Dont use wd-40 on your belts. It breaks down the consistency of the rubber. This is why they dont use it to shine up radiator hoses. If you take it to a shop, they'll hook up a device which can tell if your alternator is charging the battery efficiently. If you use a voltmeter, it should read about 13.6 volts give or take some.

Sounds like you need a new belt tensioner. It shouldnt be backing off or loosening to state the obvious.
