Well the problem started 2 days ago. About right after I gutted my catalytic converter. My throttle is not as responsive as it should be. My exhaust is louder, as it would be with a gutted cat, but it sounds more rough than it should be. Under the hood I have a oil filter to relieve pressure from the crankcase. After running the car smoke appears to be coming out of the filter itself, and it smells like fuel. Can fuel get into the crankcase? I've never heard of that happening. There doesn't appear to be any fuel on the fuel line or injector area. Occasionally while driving my CEL will start to flash. I read and found out that that is a sign of a misfire. Just looking for ideas of where I should start looking or what to do. After I get home from work I'm going to pull the codes.

Pulled the codes this afternoon. Got the usual ones I expected and code #43, ignition coil pack. Tested the pack and got 11.5v so thought that was ok. Pulled the plugs and there was a nice surprise in cylinder 1. I didn't have a ratchet to reach but looking down it I could see some mucky brown liquid. The caps on the wires for 2 and 3 were off as well. Tomorrow I'm going to replace the pack, plugs, and wires. Any ideas of what the mucky brown stuff is or how to clean it out? Hopefully that will fix my misfire.

Well no good news from today. Went to AutoZone and picked up some Duralast wires and NGK plugs. I sparyed down the plug cylinders with brake cleaner and wiped them dry. When I was putting the coil pack back on I accidently cracked some of the plastic off right where the connector plugs in. It still seals fine and doesn't appear to change anything. Went to start it and the motor tried to start but wasn't gettting spark. After about 5 attempted cranks I heard a loud pop. After the pop I tried starting two more times and got nothing. Anyone ever had a problem like this before?

Thats not a Fuel Leak, You have a overly rich situation, probably caused by a O2 sensor going down the pooper, You need to have it tuned. I am betting it seems to run really rough all a sudden but seems to be okay once you get to 3000 RPM and them around 4500 RPM you just donw have much more pep unless you floor it. Am I right?
