116551, question for 97-up talon owners
Posted by mike_d, Jan-31-01 03:45 PM
i was thinking of trading in my 95 esi talon for a 98 esi but my best friend just bought a fully loaded 98 esi and it was missinng some stuff my pretty much base 95 esi has. my 95 has rear disks his had drums and my car has a rear wipper and his dosent, yet his car has pwr locks, windows, mirrors, and cruise. my car only had pwr mirrors, optional cruise(which i have never used) and six speaker stereo. anyone know any other differences. really the only readson i am considering selling is because my car is automatic. i cant stand it anymore. i didnt want an auto but i couldnt find a decent car (i wanted a 5spd nt)but then i saw the car i have now and i got a big hardon for it. now i regret it(it was even the colour i wanted). either way i'll be buying an nt=).thanks

Absolutely right about the differences man. No rear wiper and no rear discs, but I got everything else you noted above including the 5-speed. I must say man, you gotta love the looks of the 97-up Talons. The 98's in particular even have IMO better colored insignias(silver) as opposed to those crazy turqoise or purplish colored insignias of 97. But the front bumper and the huge spoiler make the car look a bit exotic to many.

Good luck!

second that, the 97 does look very exotic. If you are that worried about it then work it wout were you jus pull the rear brakes off the 95 and put them on the 98, you can do it with the hatch too if your worried about the wiper. Then you will have the best of both worlds . Its not that complicated and both are interchangable. go with th e 98 it has killer looks. Just remember than only 20 percent of the cars stopping power is from the rear!

This was my car Completely OEM except Motegi DP6 18 rims and Nankang ns2 215/40 18R tires, and 20 percent window tint, forgive the picture it was a camera phone.

A little color goes a long way FYI
Before OEM 420a

After 300 in powdercoating
