Ya so last night I was driving to a friends house, Driving on the freeway goign about 75MPH and all of a sudden all my dash lights turn on and the engine shuts off....So I just let the car coast to the side of the road...I tried starting it but it simply wont, it turns over and wants to start but it wont, when pressing the gas pedal I get zero response, had the battery tested and its fine, took off the starter and had it tested and its fine, swapped coil packs, and swapped cam angle sensor and got nothing different. I try jumping the car I get nothing. i wouldnt think its the Alternator because my battery still has a charge. Is it something most likely with fuel? I tried running an OBDII Code Reader but get no codes...Im clueless and so frustrated,

PS: the worse part was I was on my way to see a girl i havent seen in like 6 months and i broke down in the rain 3 exits away and never made it!!! Damn it. Since I sold my other eclipse this is all i got and school starts tomorrow, If anyone has any input, its much appreciated. Thanks....

Sounds like fuel to me, but it could be a number of things.

A good start would be to see if you have fuel pressure at the rail, leave key set to ON. Also listen to see if you hear the fuel pump prime for 2sec at key ON position. If you're lucky its just a bad fuel pump.

Could be the ASD relay tripping for some reason? :wary

Similar thing happened to my friend and it turned out the ECU took a shit. Was just driving fine and then car just shut off and would not start. CEL wouldn't light up when he had the key turned to the "ON" position so we tried a different ECU and she fired right up. His was a 95 though.

Did we check timing belt?

Be sure to check all the fuses too. I had this happen to me a while back where the main engine fuse would blow and shut the entire car off. I coasted to side of the road and it would still turn over just never start. Also be sure to check the basics first. Does it have spark and does it get fuel are the 2 main questions here. If it gets both of those it could be deaper search into whats wrong. Timing belt is something you should check too. (hopefully its not that) Good luck man and we're all here for ya. :thumbsup

Also you might want to spray starter spray (Quick start stuff) in the TB, if your car starts up than its not getting fuel. If it doesnt than its something else. Sorry thats all the info I have. hope it helps.

Sorry I havent even had time to look at the car...I had a friend that is a mechanic look at the car and he thinks its either the Crank Position Sensor or yes the ECU because there is an issue getting power to the coil. I just bought a $40 Sensor I hope thats the problem...I will let you guys know, I REALLY appreciate your help you guys....

I had my car do the same EXACT thing on the interstate. Try turning the key to the "ON" position and see if the Check Engine light comes on. If it doesnt, its most likely the ECU as someone else said.

I have a couple spare ECU's if you need one for testing. I don't know what year your caris but they are both early 95 mtx.

My mothers 00 neon did the same thing while I was driving her to Detroit, my nephews birthday. This local garage local f'd up her car, up there.

Does your dash, light when you turn the key. If so check your starter, also look at your coilpack.

I tested my mom 00 neon coilpack its the same as ours it started up my car woohoo.

When was the last time you changed your H20 pump/timing. You might wanna chang it while your at it.

Why would he want to do that... He has a fuel/starting issue, not an engine cooling issue.

Well after weeks of the car just sitting there and being clueless I found an ECU on ebay for $50 which matched my year and i plugged it in and the car started right up like there was never an issue =) Thanks SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR HELP GUYS!!! I REALLY do appreciate it.
