116450, need opinions!! :-) Posted by nicerydez, Feb-22-08 05:07 AM
Hey, so now that i think i pretty much got everything sorted out with my car... it's fun to play with..
i left it running for a few minutes this morning, and well i thought we had some serious fog over night, turns out that nope!! it's my car.. and it's blowing a crap load of blue smoke (burning oil) wouldn't be the seal on the turbo cuz it wasn't boosting, and it is only a few weeks old..
so what are your thoughts??
should i do a rebuild?? or just scrap the car??
it does have some rust.. nothing that cant be easily fixed.. but the car has 300xxxkms on it.. and i was planning on doing an enigne rebuild while i drive this car, and once i'm done.. do a swap.. but now i'm thinking differently..
what do you guys think? i'm into the car for about $4000 including everything..
should i do a rebuild and swap engines, or scrap/part the thing out??
lol... what a waste.. :-)
oh well, just a car!!
but yeah, your thoughts?? :-)

Does it smoke at any other time? My first thought is valve seals...

it doesn't smoke when i'm driving for a while.. it's usually in the morning.. or when i start it up after sitting for a while.. but i did put some of that "stop smoke" stuff in the oil... so it may affect it??
but i do know that if i'm driving around the city for a while.. when i give her some gas, i dont get a big puff of blue smoke out the back or anyhting.. it's mainly in the initial start up of the car..

I agree, it sounds like leaky valve seals. See if there is any smoke during quick deceleration, that's another symptom.

I'm gonna +1 the valve stem seals, especially if it's right at startup and tapers off after warmup. it's a job that can be done with the head attached but it's safer to pop the head off and do it right.
definitely not a lost cause tho
