I have been wondering about this for a while, and looking through the FSM for the 98 Talon (MT). Where exactly is the ECU located on this car?

Driver side under the hood between the strut tower and the fuse box

PCM=ECU=ECM
It's usually the same thing, some cars the PCM is actually the transmission control module though
