116026, Exhaust Question?
Posted by eclipsed08, Mar-16-08 05:56 AM
Ok so the last thing I need to do to pass inspection is change the exhaust system....

Right now I have the stock system all the way back till you hit the tenzo muffler.

The sound isn't bad but I have piping leakage everywhere.

So my question to you is I want to go headers back...what do you recommend?

I want a DEEP not raspy sound, I hate lawnmower cars...and I don't want to go deaf anymore than I already am.

Comments????

On my car i run an ebay BBP header, stock cat, ebay catback with a gs-t muffler and i think it sounds pretty good, not raspy at all and not too loud but also not too quiet.

Any time you take a stock exhuast system off a NA car and put something bigger in dia you are going to get that annoying ricer sound. If you really want a header get a Pacesetter header, leave your exhuast stock and put a GST muffler on. You are almost sure to be happy and aquire the sound you are looking for.

Are you serious guys..is the forum this dead?? They weekend has everyone outside huh. Yeah well it's freezing here still, so no outside for me..

I need exhaust advice.

I was thinking Greddy cat back with their header and down pipe. I live in NH do I have to use a stock cat...or will it pass inspection with after market ones??

Any NH people here?

Search. This question is older than dirt. There are probably 2,593 similar if not exact questions with 56,732 answers...

No one serious here wants to re-answer the same question everyday when it has already been answered.

EDIT: had to check the numbers. Yep! accurate!

Well from what I've seen so far your just an asshole anyhow :-) And I mean that in the nicest way.

I did search, but now I understand why the forum is dead. Every time something is asked people say SEARCH...WTF.

If you don't want to answer stay out of the topic DJ!! Maybe I'm looking for new answers, if you think I don't know how to search your wrong sir.

But I have noticed when I do search your always getting your as tore up :-) Or your tearing ass...LOL Why don't you just simmer down.

first, deej knows his shit and is a great help around here. I wouldn't start flaming him.

Second, those of us that have been around for a while get really tired of answering the same questions over and over and over again. We tell people to search because we're fucking tired of typing the same damn thing over and over again.

that being said I'm not trying to be an ass, just trying to let you know what's going on around here.

as for your question, Mark has run NA record setting times with the Ebay headers and many people here have had great luck and have been very pleased with the Tsudo N1 cat back system and it's sound. keeping the cat converter helps greatly for preventing the raspy sound. for the laws in NH, a cat is going to be required, every state does past . will they notice it missing? maybe not. if you want the extra performance spend a few bucks on a high flow unit and have a muffler shop weld some flanges in place for you.

I was just playing with DJ...no harm meant. I know you guys don't like typing the same thing over and over...I was just seeing if there was anything new around I should know about.

The problem is that our 2gnt's are rapidly approaching the threshhold of aftermarket companies not being interested in spending the time and money in R&D to build new components. Shit, some of them are rapidly approaching 14 years old! More often than not you will find companies like Tsudo or OBX(unfortunately) that will copy a pre-existing design or even improve on a pre-existing design. Therefore when you search and find that many people are happy with a particular brand or product, even going back 5 years, for the most part, it still exists and maybe the best choice and most likely has been copied by current aftermarket companies.

What I'm trying to say is that the aftermarket selection for our cars is a "been there done that" selection. Unless you go custom, which is what I have. 3" custom turbo back with an electric cutout dump before the cat.
