So my new engine has been sitting in the garage installed since last november. Turbo kit fully installed with a little bit of oil in it. It hasn't been started yet as I need a downpipe still since Hahn discontinued theirs (great timing BTW) and I have some additional wiring to do. Anyway long story short I just came back into town and checked on the car and there is a small oil puddle under it. I jacked it up and looked underneath it and so some drips between the block and the tranny. Is it possible that my engine didn't come with a rear main? I'm pretty sure I would have noticed and if that was the case then wouldn't the oil just dump right out? I guess I need to sleep on it. Any advice would be helpful.

Yeah you should have noticed it. if the oil is just sitting in the motor and you havent started it, then I am not sure its the main. If there is not main seal in there, oil would gush out if the motor were started.

I just did replaced mine, I know how you feel.

I dont see how the seal could leak without it ever even running.

Unless its broken in half or a chunk is missing from it or like you said, there is no seal in it, I dont see it leaking.

I know how it is to have to take all that out to get to that seal. Sorry to hear that man.

Mine drips and i'm in no hurry to fix it until i get a cherry picker and an engine stand.

Well I put in four quarts a few days ago and dried off everything where I thought it was leaking. I checked again today and everything is dry. Even the plate where the tranny joins the block is spotless. It must have been residual in the transmission that was slowly dripping out. Like I said its been sitting for 3 months and really made a mess underneath. I think I'm in the clear though. Now it just has to sit there another 3 weeks before I can work on it again. Thanks for your help guys. I'll check it again just to be sure when I get back into town.
