115798, Underhood Shifter Bushings... You Know Where This Is Going...

Hey,

I read about the skateboard bearings and my car needs the underhood bushings replaced. I have about a 3/8" play back and forth.

Now, I searched for two hours today and could not find the answer (I even tried the other boards!).

Do the skate board bearings work on the 2gnt?

Thanks!

just order these from MachV, but to answer your question yes kinda. yes the ones your refering to are jut sealed ball bearings (similar to Skateboard ones) but unless you know the specs of the shifter hole and pivot you might be spending more time then its worth instead of ordering them from here, especially since you cant hammer in or otherwise deface the roundness of a sealed bearing set.

the ones for the 4G63 work on our cars

Thanks!

I saw that page too, but I never really got an exact answer on whether they fit or not.

I was just gonna try the bearings for now, looking to buy a Spyder here shortly.

Rollerblade bearings are a perfect fit. I'm not sure if they are the same as skateboard bearings or not.

Windshield wiper motor mount bushings from you local autoparts store work, too. Remove the metal section and cut the rubber in half - instant shift bushing.

Isn't cheaper just to get either of the shifter bushing kits from ci then to go spend money on bearings... then at least you know it works

I prefer the Speed Source bushings. Specifically made to be shifter bushings so they fit well and the company that backs them offers quick shipping and good service:

The "Mitsubishi" version fits the 2GNT just fine, even though they say 4G63 only.

X2

And didn't cost a penny because they were old ones that I upgraded years ago. Had enough for ALL the vehicles.

$20?

I outta take the red's out of my $120 skateboard and put em in my car.... No, wait, that's just stupid. I outta take the cheap abec 1's out of my girlfriend's skateboard. +1.

The car is down so i see no reason not to do this RIGHT NOW.

Bearing press how too:

*2 peices of 2x4
*Grease
*Hammer or vise

If you cant figure out how to press a bearing with all of that, pm me and i'll e-slap you.

I pressed mine in with a big c-clamp.

The bearing size is: 22mm outside diameter and 8mm inside diameter.

You can easily find these bearings at your local hardware store. You will also need 4 flat washers and 2 pins or just reuse the pins that are already on your shift cable ends.

I did use roller blade bearings, but had to grind out a little bit of the inside surface on my shifter cable end. Only then then could I press the bearings in with a C clamp.
