So we got everything hooked up, except for a couple of things and fired the Talon up tonight... open header.. so it was quite loud at 10pm... well the problem is, with no throttle it tachs up to 5k rpm and we shut it down before it goes further.

Any ideas as to what could be causing the problem.

Right now:
There is no intake hooked up
No EGR solenoid
At least 1 vacuum not hooked up
Running open header.

start with fixing your vacuum leak

Vac leak big enough can cause that.

Well with the vacuum leaks possibly being my problem, does anyone have a vac diagram for under the hood?

The 2GNT vacuum layout is real sdimple. If you don't have cruise, it's two lines plus the brake reservoir.

More likely culprits are the throttle body gasket and EGR tube gasket. You say it has no EGR - is the hole in the back of the intake manifold blocked? Has the TB gasket been changed? Is it good?

The TB gasket was changed when we put the intake stuff back on.

The hole in the back of the intake manifold is not blocked right now, the EGR piping is not hooked up at all.

block it somehow, you have the worlds biggest air leak.

fun game for nymphos at home, block the EGR hole with... nevermind, this was in poor taste

That is your problem......come on man, you cant expect it to idle with a leak like that.

Does not work very well.

Come on! plug that hole. take the flange off the egr tube and cut a few pieces of mountain dew can and cereal box to the same shape WITHOUT the center hole.

sandwich the can pieces between the cereral box pieces and bolt the flange and your new makeshift gasket to the back of the intake manifold. Wala! you have blocked your EGR inlet on the manifold.

C'mon! What's with you, man? The engine revs when you open the throttle. With a 1/2" hole in the manifold AFTER the TB, you've done the same thing.

Connect up your vac lines and call it a day.

Definatly hook The EGR lines up or block it off....:nuts
