I need some help getting an AF gauge hooked up. I used the search function, but I found little help and conflicting info. Some said tap the wires inside under center console, others to tap directly to the O2 sensor. I believe I need to go directly to the sensor (in front) for the more accurate reading. Either way, I need help!

Anyone have a basic howto on what to hook to what? What do the colors on the O2 sensor wire stand for? It's just a basic Autometer gauge. TIA

Gauge Power - 12v switched wire, you can use the cig lighter wire.
Gauge Ground - just ground it to a bare metal nut somewhere under the dash.
Gauge signal - Upper connector on the ECU, its a white/black wire, thats the o2 signal wire and that whats you wanna tap into.

Gauge backlighting power - green/white wire off the cig lighter works, thats a lighted source that will turn on the gauge when the headlamps are turned on.
Back light ground - same thing, ground to bare metal nut or bolt.

FYI - If it seems like it doesn't actually show anything useful, that means you installed it right. They're pretty much useless. ;)

They let you know when you have a bad o2 sensor!

WHy does everybody bash on the narrow bands? I mean come on, everybody used them before the wideband came out so they must have been atleast somewhat usefull. Dont get me wrong Id love to have a wideband since they are way better but we dont all have the 250 or so to buy them. Besides my crapy narrow band saved my ass a few times when i first put my kit in my car. It may not be all that reliable but they do kinda what theyre sapose to. I just watch the gauge and check my plugs regularly to make sure everything is fine, and so far so good

I tapped into the O2 sensor harness..

Narrow bands suck, they're just blinky flashers. They don't tell you anything that isn't obvious.
