115435, WTF...Three ECUs gone bad in 4 years?! Posted by Rondan97, Jun-05-08 01:39 AM
My third ECU just started showing the signs of failing. Even though they've all been used ECUs, this is just ridiculous. Luckily, I have a working A/T ECU from before I did my 5spd swap. Does anyone know what's the defect in 95' ECUs that causes them to go out? I thinking of making some type of heatshield for the ECU but it may not even be heat related. Also, does anyone know where I can get remanufactured unit from (other than the stealership) with some type of warranty?

The issue with the '95's has to do with the ground traces lifting from the board. It not heat related, just a manufacturing defect.
The dealershit is the only place i know to get a reman ECU with any kind of warranty.

Thanks. Now at least I won't waste my time making a heatshield. Do you know if the dealerships are selling updated versions of the ECU or if they're same defective units? Althought, I guess a new one would good for at least 80k-100k mi.
