115399, Shifter... issues Posted by justins71, Jun-12-08 01:47 PM
So I was cruising down the highway the other night on the way home from work, shifted into 4th to go around a slow-poke and when I tried to go back into 5th, my shifter decided it wanted it's freedom... never had anything like this happen before!
Here's normal...

Here's not normal...

Needless to say it was interesting getting the rest of the way home! It was in a construction zone on the highway, with 2 lanes closed, so I pulled off on the left shoulder and tore my panels off to see exactly what happened, and had to push the cables by hand into the gates to make it home. Oh yeah, taking off in 3rd gear, not a great idea. I managed to kinda wedge it into place the next morning, and was able to get different gears and make it into work where I took advantage of having to disassemble the shifter. Cut about 1.5" of and angled it back so I'd have a short shift and not bust my knuckles on the radio or cig. lighter stuff. Good times!
