When's the last time you did any maintenance? If it's nearing time for an oil change I'd go ahead and do that, filter and plugs at least. Make sure you take along some basic tools, jack and a good spare. It always helps to wash it too...for some reason :P

Well, my car, before i went turbo, had 165k miles on it. i drove it on a 750 mile round trip with not a single problem. as stated above do the regular maint. to it plugs, wires, oil. take your tools, a role of duct tape, any and all spare sensors you have laying around (just in case), a jug of water, bottle of oil. make sure your spare is good before you leave. you shouldnt have any problems.

For me, I had to rebuild the engine at 120K. I admit though that I drove my car hard through everything though. Bad weather, hard corners that made the oil light come on, treated the engine like shit, poured crap into it, used fram filters. But thats all because I was trying to break it so I could rebuild it. I'm sure that if you treated it much better, It'll be ok. AKA, don't use a fram filter. Now that it's rebuilt with some oil pan baffles and traps on the pan, I don't have much to fear from corners, and I'm treating the engine to much better filters like mobile 1's, and am alot more strict about my oil change times. Basically, the engine runs great! the head was decked 25/1000" and it has stock pistons, and an MLS head gasket, so I'm guessing that it's running at an 10.6 compression ratio and I'm using 89 octane gas. personally, the engine is fairly powerful and I'm kinda liking it. though I have no dyno.

I drove it 850 miles up to Iowa one december, only had one problem goin up when my air filter froze and it sucked all the oil out of my crankcase (had PCV hooked up on the turbo inlet tube). Kudos to the 420a, though, had oil dripping out the tailpipe and only 1/2qt in it (Had to add 4 quarts at an interstate fuel station) and the damn thing still was running well, and not only made it up but all the way back and then another 6 months before my forged rotating mass finally came in (howell...). By the way, ran PCV hose to a oil breather canister now... workin on an exhaust-pulling PCV system as we speak. Anyone know how well these work with daily drivers?

Before I broke the car I did regular trips to see family and friends in Oklahoma and Texas which was almost ~1600 miles round trip

I've driven mine several thousand miles (on and off ofcourse keeping track with the trip odometer) without breaking anything. I f-d up a rod bearing and my car has been sitting for about a month or so. She's being brought back to life VERY soon. When my car breaks its almost always my fault because i beat on it so hard.

Fully built engine, untuned, blown head gasket, drove from Phoenix to Kansas City and back via Roswell, NM and Tucson, through a blizzard without a hiccup. 38mpg on the highway when it was clear and dry.

I've never taken mine on what i would consider a long trip, but I think you'll be fine, we're talking about a 420a not a 4g63 here :P

The 99RS has never left me stranded ever. Made the trip from SoCal to Sacramento/San francisco and back without any issues - which is cool because central Cal feels deserted. She threw a belt on Hollywood Blvd once, and I've lost the coolant hose (right over the exhaust mani) like 3 times. So I always check those things before I go any significant distance

When i moved from New Mexico to california it was just under 900 miles and my car had 208,000 on it... everything went smooth with an oil change wash and quick look over before i left. the only thing i could compplain about is my back hurting for driving so long

I drove for 17 hours straight one time, stopped only for gas and food. It was on the way to pick up the engine thats in it now. At the time my engine had around 150k on it, only reason for swap was forged internals. It took it like a champ, no problems at all. Just run a compression test, and replace stuff that is close to being time to replace and if everything looks good or gets replaced if it needs it then you should be fine.

With 110k on mine, took it to College Station Texas from Plainfield IL. Roughly 16 hours non stop driving. Drove there, was graced with a hail storm that did damage, and drove back home.

Taking it from Greenville, SC to Ohio tonight, coming back tomorrow night.

In July its going to Pensacola and back.

The car was maintaned ridiculously well, plus ive never had an issue with the twelve or so 300 mile round trips ive taken in the last four months. Oil is changed on time, kept up with the MFR recommended intervals. 38mpg :)

I've driven my car from Southern California to Seattle Washington. It was about 1,900 miles total and I didn't have one problem.
