yes you'll also want to use a fuse on the power wire running from the hatch to the front of the car just in case it hits metal. You can just run the ground wire in the back to the hatch.

Ideally, yes, but I would hope the guy's 5AWG would be close enough to not present a fire hazard during cranking (since I suspect he might go through with it). A lot of amps have to go down that line to the starter. The longer wire results in greater resistance, which increases the heat.

How big of a fuse?

I got it to start yesterday just fine, not once but three times.

Battery is dead (was in the buick that was sitting for a year with the ALARM ON and will not hold charge).

My old battery is in the buick so it looks like i'll be buying an optima or some other gel/dry cell battery next week. Hell, i'll even get bigger wire and a fire extinguisher too now that i'm freaking out about my hard efforts (and alot of money) going up in smoke.

My idiot friend chris ran something like a 10ga or 8ga in his civic. (yes, his civic is half-asses as it comes)

His didn't catch fire. He spun a rod bearing (so he says) shortly after i did the same to my motor but he had the battery in the trunk for atleast 6 months before the engine shit out.

i use a 100 amp inline fuse on mine. no problems. been about a year

It melted the shit out of mine.

Just to add to this, I relocated my battery and now when turn the radio on, a wine comes out of the speakers??? It gets higher as I accelerate and louder when I use the power windows lol

Any ideas?
