I got a recal in the mail for ball joint. went and did it and they said I also needed the FPR recall done. Its done. i was just wondering what is it and what did it fix?

I tried to post here 2 days ago, but it would not let me. The recall is #7671. They will replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator with a newly revised one (better). They will also remove the exhaust aspirator system which is the metal pipe/rubber hose that runs from the exhaust system at the front of the engine to the air intake box. It will be capped off at the metal end. They will reprogram or replace (probably just reprogram) your powertrain control module. It only takes about an hour to do this.
I noticed alittle improvement in my idle and accleration after I had it done to mine. Good luck and again, sorry for the late post. Sometimes the board does not let me post a reply and it really p***es me off when I can't let someone know when they ask a question.

do you know if the 420a brothers (avengers/sebrings) are affected by this? and what years?

Yeah what years does this effect, because the pulsed secondary air unit is only on 95... maybe the problem with the fpr is only a 95 problem too...

is this why my car stalls out when i press the clutch in sometimes? i havent gotten a letter yet. when did everyone get theirs?

This Recall is for 1995 ONLY. It is for the 420A (4 cyl) engine and MANUAL TRANMISSION ONLY. The Avenger/Sebring is covered also IF you have THIS combination.
I did not have a gas smell on mine. I don't believe this problem has anything to do with the smell.
