Hey guys, I am installing my cat back but having trouble getting the studs at the cat out. I was grinding them off and drilling them out but they must be made of some tough stuff and keep dulling drill bits.

I believe the rear O2 sensor is just to determine if the cat is working correct? I just wonder if it is ok to drive the car with no cat back and no rear 02 sensor. Thanks guys.

Edit: I was able to find something via google and I am pretty sure this is correct. My neighbors aren't going to like me very much as I have to drive the car with no cat back for a couple days until I can get some help from a friend with some better tools.

I must say, the car sounds amazing with no cat back. Loud but very nice.

you can drive w/out a downstream (rear) o2 sensor, but you'll have a check engine light. You might be dulling drill bits because you aren't drilling slow enough and/or lubricating at the same time w/ WD 40. w/out WD, you'll dull quick. learned that.

Surprisingly I don't get a CEL. I am not sure why, I have the sensor wired up on the other side of the heat shield.

That is probably my problem. I wasn't lubricating it. My drill also doesn't like to go very slow. Its cheaper and bogs down if I try and go slow.

Friend is getting some easy outs so hopefully that will be enough to get this thing finished. I have one stud 90% bored out just having trouble on the other one.

I must say my car is very loud. Everyone was looking at me as I drove across the city lol.

I had one hell of a time getting my cat off when I was replacing the downpipe and cat. My car is very loud with the exhaust I have (Greddy cat back) and I have headers so that makes it louder too. I used a dremel tool and cut the flange where the bolts go through. Took a while but it worked.

I consider myself more of an ass hole then a ricer. Car sounds pretty damn good. Just really really loud. Kind of like its a race car, heck it doesn't even sound like its a 4 cylinder. Nice low rumble. Driving in it for 20 minutes made me half deaf though lol.

I just heated mine up with a torch and put vise-grips on the bolts and eventually I was able to turn them loose
