I'm in the process of moving my ECU to the cabin and I also wanted to move the fuse box behind the driver side fender if possible. I am not sure if im suppose to disconnect the wires from underneath the fuse box or cut the wires and have to resolder them? whats the best way?

If you disconnect them then you obviously have to reconnect them right? Soldering is always the best way and use heat shrink tubing.

Do not cut them...

when i relocated mine i labeled and then cut the wires for the fuse box that run inside the drivers side fender, i then mounted the fusebox on the engine bay side of the frame rail next to the drivers side radiator fan and soldered and shrink tubed all the soldered connections.

I moved mine behind the bumper, without cutting the wires...

Got any pics? Im interested in moving mine but dont want to cut wires.

Even I would be interested in more info on this project. Eventually, I'll be relocating both fuse panels to the center stack, where the radio used to be (on my Galant). If cutting is required, I'm cool with that, but I was thinking there might be some kind of aircraft electrical connectors which are provisioned for 20-30 conductors that could be used. Better to make clean cuts and terminate the conductors with AMP pins or something which clip into a larger connector that could be securely plugged into the firewall somewhere.

Just a thought. A quick search of mcmaster.com doesn't pull up what I'm thinking of...

Ok, I took a few pics. They really did not turn out...

This is what i did.. Took out the drivers headlight..
The hole where wires go through, Cut from the hole to the front of the car with a cut off wheel.. You can kinda see in the pic below.
If you wanna make it look Perfect you can tack weld it back up, But i'm not doing that much work..lol It is really not that noticable when the headlight is back in..



Here is a pic of where i mounted it, behind the bumper...
I also had the ECU Down there too. I just moved it under the passenger seat..
