114051, Help needed asap. Car won't start Posted by Murfsmaster, Oct-26-08 11:56 AM
So I spent this past weekend taking the motor out of my current car and putting it into my new car. Everything was working just fine with no problems at all in my old car. Now I have everything hooked up in my new car and I don't get anything when I turn the key. The fuel pump primes. I tried using the relays from my car in the new one but still nothing. Also, they are both a 97 so I took the ecu out of my old car and put it in my new car and still nothing. All of my connections are tight and the battery is good. I am at a loss right now and could use help. Thanks

So if you turn your key NOTHING happens as all?
If thats the case check your wiring. You fucked up somewhere! Your battery is know to have a charge in it? Connections tight?
Id start and make sure the starter is seeing 12V. Check grounds etc.
Its probably something SUPER simple, but your gonna have to hunt to find it!

i would imagine it is simple but i still can't figure it out. When i turn the key, the fuel pump primes and thats it but i have not checked for spark yet. I've checked the starter connections and they were good and the battery started my old car just yesterday with no problems. crank and cam sensors are plugged in. Maybe somehow the starter is the case but it worked fine yesterday. I will look more tomorrow. Thanks

Follow the harness off of the positive side of the battery and you will find a small black connector.....that is the starter solinoid wire....make sure you plugged it in.
Edit: sorry the connector is white!

I actually almost did that when I rebuilt my motor. At the last minute my friend noticed it.

Terry, you are the man, lol. It was actually plugged in but the connector on the started somehow came lose during the transplant. I was just frustrated last night after spending all weekend swapping out the motor and everything else and it wouldn't start. Thanks again for everyones advice. I will get pictures of my new baby sometime soon.
