11266, compression test question

If I do the compression test on my 95 RS, will it tell me if my Head gasket is bad?

Cause i have been leaking oil for like 7 months now and i just replace the valve cover gasket and got an oil cahnge and i see fresh oil on the garage floor.

RRE told me it was the valve cover gasket, Mitsu told me it was the head gasket, and the oil cahnge place told me it was the oil pan gasket.

How can i find the problem? Thanks

Sort of.. If the headgasket is leaking, you'll get low compression on at least one cylinder, while the others may be fine. If it's leaking between cylinders, you'll have two lows right next to each other, but if you plug one, the compression will increase in the other.

Better bet would be a leakdown test.

IF it is an oil leak at the head gasket, IT MAY NOT show a difference in your Compression. This is because the oil is NOT leaking from the cylinder area, but away from it. The oil leaks are at the edge of the head/headgasket. But I would still do the compression test to check the engine anyway.
GOOD LUCK
