EDZ The 2.4 L (2429 cc) EDZ engine is very similar to the 2.0, sharing the same bore and DOHC cylinder head, but it has a taller block and longer 101 mm stroke. It also uses balance shafts to smooth vibrations and is built in Saltillo, Mexico. Output was up to 140 hp when production started in 1994 for the 1995 model year. As of 2004, output is 147 hp SAE (110 kW) at 5200 rpm with 165 ft·lbf (224 N·m) of torque at 4000 rpm.
It has a cast iron engine block and an aluminum DOHC cylinder head. It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with roller followers and features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, a one-piece cast camshaft cast, and an aluminum intake manifold.

EY7 The EY7 and the EDZ are similar, except for the EY7's SOHC cylinder head.

2.4 Turbo The turbocharged EDV/EDT is similar to the regular EDZ. Output is 230 hp SAE (172 kW) at 5300 rpm with 250 ft·lbf (339 N·m) of torque at 2200-4400 rpm.
The engine, code A855, has a cast iron closed deck block and split crankcase. It uses an 8.1:1 compression ratio with Mahle cast eutectic aluminum alloy pistons, forged connecting rods with cracked caps and threaded-in 9 mm rod bolts, and a cast high-hardness steel crankshaft. The cylinder head is cast aluminum, with the cylinder heads being a 48-degree pent-roof design with a partial cloverleaf between the intake valves. The valves are actuated by hydraulically-adjusted rocker arms with roller cam followers.
The SRT-4 and PT Cruiser Turbo use the same engine block and heads The intake manifold, turbo plumbing, and intercooler are all different. The cast-aluminum 8-row Valeo intercooler is mounted in the front, and the reverse-rotation Mitsubishi TD04LR-16Gk turbocharger has a 6 cm² turbine inlet. The turbocharger compressor housing features a built-in bypass valve, and the turbo housing is cast into the exhaust manifold with a loop-around flow pattern. The stock SRT-4 has a maximum boost level of 15psi Applications:

This is saying the motor that will fit and the SRT-4 ar the same block. Why can't I drop in a SRT-4. If anybody has any input on this please let me know.
I know it's not just a drop in but I'm sure yall understand what I mean.

First off welcome to 2gnt, I suggest you use the search button in the future, cause this isn't the best start here. I'll help you out a bit:

Take a look at the engine bay of both cars, the srt head is orientated completely opposite the 2gnt motor. Which means the turbo is against the firewall--tell me do you have a plan to move the firewall back, or cut a tunnel so the downpipe will fit? Not to mention you will have to swap the ENTIRE wiring harness and then try and get the damn thing to run. I don't think you want that headache, and there is one reason why this has never been done, is because it can't be feasibly done. If you have a boatload of money, and are willing to spend it, by all means do it. You said you didn't receive a straight answer at DSMTalk.so hopefully I gave you one.
Searching is the key to gaining knowledge here man. Check out the advanced tuning section for 2.4L swaps. It's the closest you will ever get to an srt motor. And it is not easy to swap the 2.4. You could buy an srt-4 for what it would cost you to complete this swap.
Just turbo your 420a and call it a day.

Thank you for coming here to get real answers. I saw that thread and there was so much misinformation it was ridiculous. With that said; welcome, get the srt-4 idea out of your head, and if you are interested in a 2.4 swap do a quick search and you can read for days about it then decide if it's really for you. If you decide against the 2.4 swap and you really want a stroker, like said on talk, you can always go for the howell stroker kit. If you decide to stick with 2.0L you can still make some power after learning how to turbocharge these cars.

The (1G, as I call it) 2.4L motor will fit. I run a 2.4L block in my car with a 2.0L head. Can you swap an SRT4 driveine? No. Period. It will not physically fit in your engine bay using the NV-T850 transaxle. The package is too large, and the Neon engine bay is wider than ours. However, in a 2.4L swap on a 2GNT, you'll use a whole lot of SRT4 engine parts. What is different between the NA and turbo 2.4L motors?
Not much.

this is what i was gonna post for you
ok alot of misinformation here this should clear some stuff up. First off eclipse rs/gs needs to use the cirrus, pt or caravan block 97 to 99 you use the 2.0 head with the 2.4 cam gears. Time it like a 2.0 you use srt 4 pistons and rods but you turn the pistons 180 degrees on the rod. You can use srt 4 oil pump (flows more oil) or a dodge one whichever you use you need to use that model oil pan whatever oil pan you use you will have to notch it to make room for the exhaust. You need to fab some brackets for power steering and ac(you can modify a pt bracket i think) ok for the ecu its easy 4 wires you need to change the firing order 1 to 4 and 2 to 3. (i think thats the order) same with the plug wires you do need to fab one motor mount. You also need to use the 2.0 valve cover because of clearence issues the 2.4 is about an inch taller than the 420a. Get rid of the balance shaft to get a red line of 7200 (I beleve )you also need to move the cam angle sensor magnet up 3/4 an inch. A few peeps on 2gnt.com have done this swap im gathering parts as we speak.
oh and the reason you cant just use a srt4 block is because in 2000 when the srt4 came out it had a whole new ecu and sensors and its backwards thats why

No. 95-2000 Stratus, Cirrus, Breeze, nonturbo PT, or Caravan. There's only one 2.4L block in any 95-2006 non-srt4 Chrysler vehicle, and they're all the same AFAIK.

No. You swap the coil trigger wires, and move all the injectors down one, e.g. 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 3, 3 becomes 4, and 4 becomes 1.

You can use either, though the 2.0L VC fits better. The clearance issue doesn't come from the VC, it's because the block is taller.

You have to remove the balance shafts to notch the pan. You could rev a stock 2.4L motor to 7200 even with them, though i wouldn't recommend it ;-)

No. You can't use an SRT4 block because the oil drainback tubes cast and machined into the block are larger than on other 2.4 and 2.0L motors, and so the head won't seal. Block off those passages and find another way to drain oil out of the head, and it'll work, too.

2003 was the introduction of the new NGC ecu in the chrysler engine all engines built from 2003 have the new system of crank sensor incompatible with earlier years the crank sensor now read a crank trigger wheel built inside the engine kinda like the ones on ford gm vw etc (except thoses are outside the engines) while earlier model years were reading a few notches grooved in cylinder 1 or 2 you would need a standalone like megasquirt to run 2003-+ engine
the oil gallery is also a problem but not the main one

Simply put, Crank Position Sensor.
It has been done in a lot of neons, but you have to done work either run standalone, Mega Squirt or use the entire SRT wiring harness, including the computer and rewire all of the gauges in your dash, or swap dashes. It would be much easier and cost effective to stuff SRT internals into a pre '03 2.4.

2.4 turbo engine have the exact same pattern as the non turbo 2.4 engine our tranny will fit allright you would need a 420a starter and that's it

Why not just buy an SRT-4??? They don't look that bad :)
You want a two door just shave off the back doors and make the front doors look longer so it looks like a two door. :)
