I think this may be my first post here... but I am a long time lurker... Ive been looking into the 2.4 build and decided to take a shot at it... I wanted to share my current progress and possibly get a few ideas from u guys on certain setups and etc... well where i am currently is i have the 2.4 stratus block rebuilt, srt-4 rods,pistons and rings, remanufactured crankshaft, rebuilt 2.0 cyl head with valve job, refinished intake manifold, jeep 60mm throttle body, t3/t4 to4e 57trim "ebay" turbo, knock off ebay "star" (i think) turbo manifold, removed balance shafts... possibly a few other things i cant think of as of right now... im thinking of building an 8 injector setup to deal with turbo fueling. only problem is im not sure what fuel rail to use or exactly how to mod my existing fuel rail since we have returnless fuel setups... also i want to mod the fuel rail to have a fuel return line so i can use a traditional FPR and supply fuel to both rails... well ill get into the pictures and wait for responses

EDIT: I know my oil cover is quite dirty and old... its being replaced... lol...

YEAH! Rebuild the engine in the living room I always say!

Yea... lol the funny part is its not in the living room... its in my bedroom... on the 3rd floor... hahah i didnt think about the end result as i was building... now i have to figue out how im going to get it back down to earth... and possibly in the car... i still havnt figured out how im going to do the passenger side motor mount... i havnt seen many pictures to get an idea of what needs to be done... but that shouldnt be that much of a problem... i had a few questions on setting up a fuel rail with a return line and traditional FPR, and possibly setting up an 8 injector setup... also what size intercooler fills up the 2Gb bumper, and also DARK ONE what fuel rail do you have in those pictures that were on the website u sent me to... i think ive seen on a website that someone was using evo intercooler piping... i wasnt sure if those pipes would actually work... also i was thinking of grabbing some rx7 injectors, if i have it correct the eclipse uses peak and hold injectors and the 84-87 rx7 uses peak and hold also... the injectors range from 680cc (84-85 Orange top), and the 86-87 tan (550cc) and red (460cc) so i figured they would be good choices for a bigger injector for turbo fueling... well im leaving the floor open to suggestions ideas and all the other good stuff... for a while there i thought this forum was dead... but im glad to see some people are keeping it alove... hands down the best 2g forum out... dsm talk puts u in this newbie state and u can only post in some BS sub forum... just because i just signed up doesnt mean im a newbie... well lets see what u guys got going inside your head... if ud like to see more pictures just ask... my aim name is JPlayya2G and my email is joshua.pottle@gmail.com

Thanx, ive been taking pics of most aspects of the build... i only got a lil anxioius when i was putting the cyl head on there and forgot to snap off some pics... but im sure everyone knows how to put a head gasket and a cyl head on... everything else ive tried to take pics of as i was doing it... so no one has any ideas on a fuel rail with a return line on the rail... or any kinda ideas... what about people running MS with the neon/420a code... i was thinking about this for the ems... but i didnt know if anyone has had any experience or anything with it...

Yea, im actually really interested in the MS system... especially since they now have the neon/420a code... the only problem i think im goin to have is, trying to find a way for the stock ecu to stay happy and not throw a CEL for it not controling fuel and spark to the engine... That would make it hard to get an inspection sticker but im sure i can figure a way around it... it sucks that this forum is pretty much dead because through searching ive found lots of information here and it woulda been nice to speak to some of the people that ive seen alot in older posts... We need to get 2gnt back alive... everyone tell ur 2gnt buddies to get back into the boards... lets spark the rebirth of TEAM 2GNT!!! are u guys motivated...???

It's a custom billet aluminum job with -6 AN fittings on each side.

Man, that looks good. But you got a good Manifold if it is indeed Star. They're one of the two reputable forced induction companies for the 2GNT.

And what's up with your oil cap? I have one I can send you if you can't get that schtuff off.

If you decide to go with an EIC you'll basically have the same setup as me. 8 injectors is not a bad setup...it's easy to tune for 15psi and lower. But our fuel system is not a returnless system.

Its not a star manifold its a star knock off... got it off ebay... so far it looks pretty good, fits nice and doesnt hit anything... nothing to mod to install it... only gripe is on of the lower bolts in the center of the manifold looks like its going to be a B|+CH to get in... but ill figure something out... as for the oil cap... i think im going to buy one... maybe a billet one that goes with the color scheme of my car...

Yea... i love how its DIY tho... but i was also thinking about timing control and knock control two things the EIC cant offer... I want to have a nice tune with the ability to save the engine if anything goes wrong if at all possible... plus the other features make it quite tempting... not only that i want to run around 20psi so i would rather go overkill now and grow into the EMS rather than outgrow another setups limitations...

Thanx... I dont know why either... at first the motor mount was a lil intimidating (sp?) but i got over that... if i can put this beast together then making a motor mount should be easy... and if i can find some good condition rx7 injectors i might just have a very nice fuel setup... well see what happens...

yes you do, its cuz 98.9% of the nation just wants to buy parts and then pay someone else to install them... nobody actually wants to make their own shit anymore... fuckin' rookies.

Hahaha tru indeed... well luckily im in that 1.1%... I dont mind getting my hands dirty, plus those 98.9% are what keeps us 1.1% with money in our pocket... But hey im not complaining... MONEY MAKES THE MOTOR MAKE MORE POWER and im all down for power...

Just a little update... im in the process of working the oil pan... i had a little idea... taking a 2.0 oil pan and cutting the flange (mounting plate) off and welding the 2.4 flange on there... so it should be the right size to fit the exhaust pipe and crossmember... just gotta get my hands on another 2.0 oil pan... Im still searching for a fuel rail and i think a 97 fuel rail with the test port on the side might be my best bet... or build a custom job... well ill cut this short... if anyone is intersted then post up some questions ideas or just shoot the sh|+ wit me... lol

The 2.4L oil pan is bigger in every dimension. This will not work like you think it will.

Fabricate something from scratch, modify a 2.4L steel pan, or side pipe it. Those are your options with the Stratus oil pump you're using.

Excellent work. And good luck getting the engine down those 3 flights of stairs. I have enough trouble lugging it across a level garage :)

I'm one of the 98% who stays 2.0L. Why? It's called TRACTION. But I've ranted about this issue in a FWD car enough already. he he, still give props to you guys who go through the effort of it all

So since the 2.0 pan is smaller wouldnt that make it easier to adapt it to the bigger oil pan flange of the 2.4... make a few slits and bevel it out "\____/" or I might just use the flange to make my own custom pan... im not sure yet, but ill make that decision when i get the 2.0 oil pan... or maybe i should just save some money and not even get a 2.0 pan... i dunno its all dependant on how much free time i have in the next up comming weeks... plus im trying to figure out the best place to get some braided stainless steel line for oil feed and drain lines...

EZ: And traction if set up right shouldnt be a problem... just get a tranny with longer gears and ull be all set... nothing a lil mix and matching of some neon trannys cant fix... if not a set of slicks... lol...
