112032, Help ASAP unable to remove ECU

Im quite certain the ECU in my 95 has failed. I have a different square ecu here from another member. The problem is I cant get my old one out. I searched and found sometmes the bolt strips out. I loosened that bolt for like 10 minutes and it went nowhere. I need an alternate way to get this out, without damaging the current ECU an further in case the new one doesnt work. And it has to be done by 4 so I can go to work. 2GNTers, I need you now more than ever...

You're going to ahve to drill the bolt out, or find a way to get the head off without damaging the harness. it's a pain, i know, but its the only way!

Ok Ill give that a try. Im not sure if Im gonna be able to do it today because my girlfriends dads garage is locked. I was gonna try an air ratched on the bolt while i try to move it out with a screwdriver, but I have a feeling Im going to have to resort to other measures
Is there anything I should be worried about when drilling the bolt out? And I really dont need that bolt in there holding the Harness on do I? I would think it would stay in as long as its not pulled on.

Can you get a screwdriver between the ECU and bracket? Wonder if you can get some traction on the bolt that way.

There's plastic clips on the sides. usually... they tend to break after so many years of heat cycling.

Wouldn't he be able to turn the connecter enough to connect the new ecu without removing the old to see if that is the issue? I know it wouldn't be inthe bracket but he could connect it to see if the ecu is the issue.

No, the connector wont come off of the ECU. Bolt is stripped.
BTW, this happened on my Neon, we drilled the head off of the bolt. It was a PITA, but it worked with minimal damage to the connector.

I don't know why I was thinking it was the bolt that holds it to the bracket and not the bolt holding the harness to the ECU.

Alright thanks for the advice guys. Also, I opened the ECU to see if there was anyway to get to the bolt that way. There isnt, but what I found is the epoxy that the circuits are encased in is now more like jello. Its supposed to stay hard isnt it?
