11176, Upgrade Engine? Posted by fahadsummiebaig, Jan-02-02 04:52 AM
My 1995 Eclipse GS has 68,000 miles on the new engine the car has 110,000 what if I get a Cyclone Engine? I get power and a new motor enough to kick a 1999 V6 Firebirds ass right?

I agree and even if there was a chance, all the modifications would come to a lot of $$. like I said before your cheapest bet is Turbo or Nitrus.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a JDM Cyclone engine is nothing more than a 1G 4G63 motor with different turbo set-up and intake. I remember a site from awhile back that could get them, but they were all different. Different mileage, different years, different turbo set-ups...

I agree with Eclipse GST. 1G 4g63 is what I've heard. I've also heard, it's basically the 4g63 engine before America tunes it down. :)

even if it is the modifications that have to be made to make it fit are quite a few. in cluding transmission ones, not just motor mounts.

whole engine bay and drivetrain is different on a 4g63 versus a 420a.. from what i've heard.. so unless you already got a 4g63 in there.. wouldn't be a good idea.. you could buy a whole new car for probably what it'd cost ya..
by the way there is a 98 eclipse GSX for sale at the dealership I work at.. nice car.
