Hello E. I'm new @ this forum...*I have a 95'Eclipse GS. MODS: 10mm Magnecore Wires, VIS Coilovers, KYB shocks, Altezza Taillights,Indiglo Guages, F&R Strut Tower Bars, Eclipse Speakers, Eclipse Player(Motorized Face) etc...

I've heard of the AFX underdrive pulley and its benefits. I also read recent posts that u have to put it in the oven or something? for installation. Can someone pls. explain this? Thanks. *Where can i purchase the AFX pulley and how much does it usually cost? Thanks Again.... L8r.

i believe you can get it at www.machv.com or www.ptuning.com
they run for about 150-170 and they come with the accesory belts needed for the install, cause you'll have to use different sized ones than factory. the pulley allows you to gain abou 5-10hp to the wheels by slowing down the accesories and also the reduced weight. you can also get an unorthodox pulley for a little more, but the work about the same.

$160 at http://www.howellautomotive.com the manufacturer. Its placed in an oven to expand the aluminum enough to slip over the crank during install. I'm sure thats not the only way (I know my shop didn't heat it to put it on).

its cake! granted a tight cake, but cake none the less...
heres the 10 step skinny: (you really should have some basic mechanical skills to try this)
1. raise and block car, take off passenger wheel, unbolt plastic cover that you look at with wheel off. BAM, theres the stock pulley!
2. loosen alternator, AC compressor(if you have it), and PS pump. take off belts.
3. jack engine up under oil pan, just slight pressure at this point.
4. apply more or less pressure to motor as needed to undo and remove motor mount on pulley side only.
5. lower motor about 1-2in. (enough that the top of stock pulley will clear frame, you'll see what i mean)
6. remove stock pulley bolt,(at this point go buy same thread bolt but 1-2in. longer and 5 or so thick washers that fit bolt, washers to be used later) screw in 1in. of longer bolt into crank.
7. RENT A SMALL 4 TON GEAR PULLER from local auto store and pull off pulley.
***at this point if you don't know how to use a puller or can't figure it out, PAY someone to do this Mod for you!!!!***
8. put on new AFX pulley and thread longer bolt with washers between head of bolt and pulley.
9. use rachet socket and bolt to "pull" new pulley on. remove or add washers as needed to "pull" pulley on tighter. at some point you can put stock bolt back in to finish "pulling" on the rest of the way. You will also need to wedge a screwdriver or something similar through the pulley against the engine to keep crank from rolling as you "pull" the pulley on with the socket.
10. add new belts, tighten all acc. MAKE SURE BELTS ARE HELLA TIGHT or SSQQQUUUEEEELLLLL!!!!!!! put everything else back on and KAKOW, new pulley!!!
no matter how you do it, it will be some hassle. the old pulley is a tight bitch! you will need the puller!!!! you can try oven heating the new pulley to slide it on, but sometimes it works and sometimes it dont. plus you gota have good mittens to handle the heat! the no-heat way will take about 3 hours start to finish if you have all the right tools and your good to go! As far as voiding warrenties goes i don't know. I hear different things. Besides, if your worried your warrenty, you probably should'nt be modding your ride to make it go faster!!
