I wasn't sure where to post this question so I put it in the performance section also. Bear with me, I'm pretty new around here. I have a used GST muffler and am debating whether or not to put it on. Do they cause you to loose low end toruqe? I would like to keep what low end torque I have. And do you notice any difference in performance, low end or high end? And also how does it sound? I don't want my car to sound like a pissed off bumble bee. thanks.

No loss in low-end torque.

You notice a slight high end gain. With the better sound it adds, it feels like even more power has been added throughout the RPM band.

It's far from bumble-bee sounding. It definitely sounds a little meaner and deeper. Definitely a slight growl is obtained. It's just a terrific sound. You definitely will be pleased. It's not a big sound change from stock, but an addition of a low grumble will have been added.

You really never have to worry about our 2GNT's sounding like a bumble bee. It may get really loud, droney and raspy depending on other random mufflers, but as far as a whiney honduh-like bumble-bee...I don't think so.

Thanks for the reply. I just don't want it to sound like those damn hondas that are all over, i hate those things. My next problem is getting the stock muffler off. the bolts are so rusted there isn't anywhere for a wrench to fit. Any ideas? (guess i should have thought of this before i put 90000 miles on the car)

Go to satan and buy three new bolts for the flange and a new gasket. Should only cost like $12. To get my old muffler off at 90,000 miles, I used a dremel tool to cut away the rust that was binding the bolt to the flange. Then a little liquid wrench and a lot of strength to twist those old bolts off.

I only had 30,000 when I put on my exhaust and I took it to a muffler shop and they loosted the bolts to the rear section for me and I just drove home and finished it. Most shops are nice like that.

i wouldnt go cuttin shit off if i were you. just put some wd40 or some liquid wrench on there and use a breaker bar. it will eventually come off. the sound is pretty sweet, i got it cause of the dual tip look and the fact that i cant stand daily drving a car with aftermarket exhaust--too loud for me!

Well it turns out that the deal I had for the muffler fell through. The idiot at the shop thought I was talking about another car. So now I need to find one, only every shop around here refuses to sell me a muffler. Anyone have any idea where I can get one cheep?

Thanks, found one and already making arangements with the guy. How much do you think it would cost to ship the thing? The guy lives about 100-150 miles away from me. He wants $60 for it, but he might come down a little, is that a good buy?

It doesn't matter to me where it comes from especially if it is from someone in this club. I know most in here are trustworthy. I just need to know how much it will cost for shipping so I can get the funds aranged. How much does the thing weigh?

If you're the buyer in Indiana who wants to buy the GS-T muffler from my brother, then I know he won't come down in price because I told him not to. :-) If someone wants to sell you one for cheaper, that's cool. But personally, I think that muffler is worth it, has enough demand, and is popular enough for a $60 price tag.

The muffler has only has 35k miles on it and it's very shiney. Moreover, you can be assured that you're getting it from someone trustworthy, b/c I know it'll be me who's the one who will take the muffler off of his car and pack it. Again his email is xsfraider@hotmail.com (I think).

If the muffler includes the piping up to the flange, then it is definitely worth 60 bucks. If you were in socal, Road Race sells their extras for 20 bucks, but the last one was just sold a week ago, so no more for now...

I had the GST muffler on my car b4 i sold it to mystic. I loved the sound of it personally, but it just wasnt loud enough for me. It gave a lil more growl down low, but still didnt turn heads until after 3-4000rpms. It just wasnt loud enough for me, now I have 2.5" pacesetter piping and an OBX muffler and love it! I have to use the silencer though cuz without it the sound is WAY too loud. Thats OK though cuz once I go turbo it will quiet it down some.

Right, Marcus. They aren't always necessarily easy to come by and since this one is still on the car, you bet it still has the flange. It's gonna be expensive enough to ship it!

Yup, I am the person you want to buy the GST muffler from. Personally, its sounds average in all ratings. Its not weak nor is it very loud. It just gives a little more of grumble sound. As for the performance it helps me out in the low end as well as the high end.

Well.. Hello there, Mr. the-other-Boltz.

do to the fact that CHP are assholes and the whole justice system is fucked up... i now have the gst muffler on.. ihave it on greddy pipping so the sound is a little louder than it would be on stock piping.. i like the look, the sound (got tired of the loud greddy back there) and the fact that it looks stock and the pigs will leave me alone now (at least due to the muffler)

my suggestion, if it is really badly rusted on take it to a muffler shop. i tried everything to get mine off, but after 110,000 miles of of blowing fumes, those bolts weren't coming off!
when i took it down to the muffler shop, they put it on a lift, and tried everything from the air gun, to the breaker bar. and loosening agents. finally they decided to torch it off, they had to cut though that crap pretty good. it ended up costing me 40 bucks, for them to cut it off, new bolts, new gasket, and put the gst muffler on.

as for sound, hell yeah it sounds good. most people cant believe i still have a mitsubishi muffler. off course i gutted my cat and put in a staight pipe instead of a resonater. it sounds good though with just the gst muffler. but much better with the cat gutted and res. replaced.
