I searched and read a lot about the n1, but couldn't find answers to a few questions I have...


I want to get the 3" version of it, lengthen it to fit my avenger, and possibly swap a different muffler on it right away.


Is the flange that mounts it to the cat 3"? Meaning, will I need to put a different flange on my cat to be able to connect it? I've read about having to do this with other 3" catbacks.

Does it have 1 or 2 resonators? Some of the posts I read said 1, some said 2.

And lastly, does it go over or under the rear crossmember?

my tsudo came with a reducer flange to fit the stock pipe
it has 2 resonators
and the GST 3" goes OVER the crossmember (its actually pinched to fit)
the GSX one WILL NOT FIT eventhough it goes under the crossmember

If you want to be bothered with lengthening it to fit your avenger and changing the muffler, why don't you just find a local shop to make you a custom 3" exhaust? It'll probably cost you the same

Ditto. Some performance shops will even cut mandrel bent pieces for a perfect fit :)

Of all the local shops that I went to, only 1 of them said they actually have a mandrel bender, and that it can only do up to 2.5" pipe. Everyone else told me they could only do crush bends.

I basically just want the n1 catback for the 3" mandrel bends, that'll already fit. Getting an eclipse catback to fit an avenger only requires about 11 inches of straight pipe, added at the back. This being told to me by quite a few avenger guys running eclipse catbacks.

About the muffler, I'd just prefer a more stock looking performance muffler.

What I meant is that they will order the mandrel bends, then cut and weld to fit on your car. There is a shop that does that around here. Damn good work.

As Tim said, you can order the mandrel bends if the shop doesn't have the capability to do them. Then just bring everything in and have them weld it all up.

I am in OH and I was going to go this route, however, shops were going to charge more than just buying the tsudo, in which I did end up buying. The flange to the cat reducers down to 2.5". It does route over in the rear too, not under.

My suggestion, in which I was planning to do with my new motor, I was going to buy about 3 mandrel bends and some straight pipe and make my own exhaust straight to one muffler in the rear. No resonators or other mufflers inline. Just straight 3" all the way back to a muffler at the end.

Also, not very shops can mandrel bend 3" piping...I have one muffler shop within about 20 mile radius that can mandrel 3 inch, thats it. Its rare to find someone that can for whatever reason.

You could build your own exhaust from galvanized steel for for about 100 bucks in pipe and 3 bends and then about 60-100 bucks for a nice muffler.

But, thats just my 2 cents.

If you want to got the route of making your own, a shop near me specializes in mandrel bends and can do 3 inch pipe. Their website is www.mandrelbendingsolutions.com. They are pretty good too, they made me a custom downpipe for my old turbo setup and all of my intercooler piping.(All mandrel bent). They should have everything you need, or they can make it.
