Hey guys i've been on here awhile lingering and learned alot. Just wanted to get that out of the way and say thanks. Anyway i bought another engine that i can build since my car is a DD and I can finally get rid of the tapping noise mine is making. So far this what i have or getting done

Block- polished crank, eagle rods and bearings, bored .20 over, new oil pump and water pump.

head- have to get a new one since the one on the engine was warped and not usable so everything will be new there.

Now the place we took it too said they were getting pistons so im not sure about what brand or ratio they are so i'll find out see if there worth keeping. Also getting lower gasket kit and head gasket kit from parts dinosaur?

Is there anything I'm missing? any other places to i need to check out and make sure are good? I plan to turbo sometime in the future, but not until i do a 5 speed swap or find a car with 5 speed and bad/no motor. So it wont be anytime right away.

Sounds like you’re on the right track guy. Yes, partsdinosaur is a good place to get gaskets unless you want to fork over the cash for brand names like felpro when the quality is some what the same. Also look at the mechanical tensioner. The compression will determine what turbo you will be using along with your hp goals. Make sure this place gets you forge pistons (it is important you find that out if they are or not along with what compression) such as wiesco or je as to I know you will get the boostbug....

It looks like you are on the right track. Just make sure whoever builds it to use anaerobic sealant between the block and bedplate and do NOT forget the o-ring that goes between the two. Multiple people here forgot it and it is not fun to tear the motor back apart to put it in. Alright, yeah i wasn't sure about the pistons, but if there not anything special I'll just get some JE's. I really cant wait to get this together and then paint it, do a 5speed swap and boost it. I've read the write up before, but I'll check it out again since its a good one.

If you have it all apart, i would go forged too. Anaerobic sealant, yes, dont forget that. ummm, arp headstuds, just build it once/right, and have no worries. 5sppeed swap FTW, much worth it.

Thats what i want to do, once and right. Just wondering, I've been reading up a lot on the 5 speed swap, but havent really got an opinion how difficult or time consuming it is? also should i do anything to the fuel system while i have the car down?
