Quick question, how to I get these valve stem seals out? I was lucky to get 2 out by carefully using a set of needle nose pliers. The other's tear because I can only grab the about 1/8" without hitting the valve guide and I tried a pair of linesmens pliars but those didn't work either.

They make a special tool that you can buy at a NAPA store for about 10 bucks. Or if you want to be ghetto, just pry the bottom flat piece that seals against the head casting with a flat headed screw driver. Just be careful, like i said, its ghetto.

Why bother saving them? They are way to cheap to risk using crappy old ones...

Hey dude, you wouldn't happen to have a part number for this tool would you? I phoned a few NAPA's and they all gave me the humm-haw song.
I wish I could make it there but I work out of town everyday and I don't make it back into the city before they close, so the wife is being my lifeline :)

I managed to find a set of spark plug pliars that look like this:

They did the trick.

Sorry, I forgot about this thread. I did not have a part number anyways, but yes those will work as well. They are pretty much the same thing except for the real tool for the stems are nylon coated on the ends like spark plug wire pliers are.

nylon would be way better, these only have some kind of thick polyethylene coating which is way too slippery. I think I'll just recoat the pliar ends next time around.
