Pardon me if this has been asked before, but I'm a newbie when it comes to owning a 2gnt. This has been going on for the past 3 days now. The "battery" light would turn on while driving down the road. First time it happened, I turned off the car and checked the terminals coming out of the alternator, took them out, cleaned them and re-attached them. Started up the car, and it's fine, no "battery" light. Second time and third time around, I didn't bother with the terminals coz everytime I'd start it up, the "battery" light would be off. Then about 20 miles down the road, it turns on again. What the heck is this? The battery or the alternator? I'm a little baffled coz with previous cars, if it's the alternator, the "battery" light would stay on no matter how many times you shut off and start the engine. I don't have a problem with replacing the alternator myself, I just don't want to spend the time and money to replace it if I'm not even certain it is the problem.

check all your battery cables, not just the lead on the alt. Also check your ground straps off the engine block, they may be corroded and will seep voltage when it's off, but as it's running won't let enough through to keep the battery charged.
