this might be a stupid question but does it matter if the rods are all installed on the pistons the same way? are our stock rods the same on each side? when i had mine pressed on the dummy did two of them backwards. Does this matter or not? thanks

typically all rods must be installed in a certian direction, you can't see it with your eyes but just about every conecting rod in existence has a slight off-set to one side. It all has to do with the geometry of the motor and making an efficient use of the lever created by the crankshaft. To prevent any unnecessary damage and simply for the sake of piece of mind, I would have it reinstalled properly. And interference fit pistons should never have the pin "pressed" into a new piston. The piston should be heated and the pin chilled 30 degrees for every .001" of interference until the pin simply drops in place. Everything will come to a common temperature and the pin and piston become a permanently connected unit. Pressing them into a new piston puts a potentially damaging amount of stress on the new piston that you wont be able to just see, and then you will wonder why your piston dissinigrated after a few thousand miles...

OK i will have the 2 that are backwards reset. Can i just heat the pin up myself and let it fall out and re set it myself or should i bring it back to him? i have a prop. torch not sure if that will do.

you cant heat the piston with a torch.

Read his post again, heat the piston, freeze the pin. Now obviously that cant be done to remove the pin.

I dont know anything about building engines, so dont try this unless you understand and think its an idea. But wouldnt two thermoelectric plates be perfect for heating the piston and chilling the pin? (one side of the plate gets extremely hot, the other side gets crazy cold)

hell maybe that is what they use. but a blow torch seems kinda rough...
