109079, Bulletproof Axles!!!!!!
Posted by slippi84, Jun-23-08 05:02 AM
Ok after talking with both companies(driveshaft shop and Raxels) I am convinced we're getting the shaft and if we can get enough people to hop on board we can get Raxles to invest in making us a set of axles made for our car. The turbo guys get a set of bulletproof for get this...$400 fir the set . Driveshaft shop wants 1200 for a stage 3 setup which is rated to 525hp with no warranty as far as breaking while the $400 gets you a set of axles that has a lifetime no ?'s asked warranty for life!!!. I would be willing to send them a set of axles so he could figure out how to make us a set liek that but I need people to get in on it to make it worth his time to even get into this. I'm posting this on 2gnt.com too and i'm gonna send him a list of how many people would be willing to buy a set similar to the turbo set. Keep in mind i'm not saying that they will def be $400 but the fact that they have a warranty on their axles so that you can go to the track or out romping and not have to worry what if I break an axle is worth every penny. NO BS!!!> Don't put your name down here if you don't reall think you will dime out for a set because I don't want to waste this guys time but I know guys like ZERO Crab and awdynamite woudn't mind but we need more then just the big dogs to get him to make these.

Sure the stock axles have held up so far but for a price like that or close it would be worth the security. EVeryone from the all out NA guy cough cough mark to the average NT-T guy making 250whp to Zero could justify spending that kinda money for peace of mind with a lifetiem warranty. So liek I said anyone REALLY interested say so and i'll get a hold of the guy at raxles and see what he can do.

Appreciate the offer, but the rule of thumb is this:

Break the axle, then consider axle upgrades.

Only one axle snapping event stands out in my memory. That was a couple years back when etx got too aggressive launching at NRP with a 20G and slicks on a freshly prepped track. Luckily for him, Avenger blew his engine shortly after and had a pair of decent axles available.

For many people, there isn't as much need for insane axles. You have to make a shitton of power and do a fawkload of drag racing with slicks to really make an investment like that worth while.

400.00 for bulletproof axles doesn't sound bad lol, I will give it a shot if you get enough people in. as long as they are plug and play everything should be good!

I had Fidanza axels but have stockers again now...For $400, I would be in.

160,000+ miles and I'm still sporting the stock factory installed axles. boots are in great shape (also still factory) and the only time they have ever been disconnected was to change the clutch.

I'll keep my stockers, I don't drag race and I don't plan on making over 300 whp.

I understand there will be alot of people that think like driggs but people are going faster and making more power. If we could figure out something tranmission and axle wise there is no reason we can't have A LOT more fast 420a cars. Look at dsm zero you have all out setups using stock trans and axles because there is no R&D into those parts. If you have a set of DSS axles more power too you but 1200 bucs for axles seems overkill but raxles if we can get them to do this has lifetime warranty no ?'s asked on their race axles.

Let's hope!

You missed my point, methinks. Even if we can pick up a set of nigh indestructible axles with a lifetime warranty for $400, that is $400 which could go towards actually making more power. While there is a case for axles like this as something of an insurance policy, to invest in axles before you know if you even need them is not the wisest course of action in my book. Just like getting Crower rods because you want to get to 600hp and the Eagles just "won't" make it that far.

There are some investments you would be best to wait until you're damn sure you need them before using the funds to source them. All I'm saying.

...and the fact that most "tuners" don't think like this is exactly what raxles is betting on with their "lifetime no questions asked" warranty claim. Kids will buy them because they think they're going to need them, and never come close to the level of torque load that is required to break even a stock axle.

Stock Reman axles go for 136.50 Say you rip a boot or something dumb and trivial and you decide to just replace your axles. Does it make more sense to spend $273 on stock axles or 400 on axles you'll never have to worry about again. I don't have to hope that people are making more money it's happening. The ability to make more power to the comon tuner is around the corner. You have such things like MSnS PnP coming out soon you have a guy that figured out how to make Emanage ultimate work with our cars and control spark. Soon basic hahn kits won't cut it tuners will start modding and going bigger. Right this very second yoru right maybe it's a investment that is overkill but like I said supply and demand. When the demand for axles in the 420a market goes up the price will not go down. If you want to make tyhe 420a platform legit you have to invest. If your not interested that's fine but saying my axles haven't broken yet seems kinda optimistic if your really trying to go fast. If your cool with 200-300whp theser aren't for you I will admit that and that's most 420a guys right now. This is for the guys trying to make serious power and compete with the high hp honda srt-4 and all the other real fast fwd guys.

I don't know where you are paying $200+ dollars for stock axles. I can get them for about $65/axle here in town at AutoZone. Hell, I have a set of stock axles and a set of DSS axles. My DSS axles are waaaay overkill for the amount of power my car makes and will continue to be overkill.

Besides, not that many people do anything with a 2gnt. Look up EvilEagle on dsmtuners.com. He is in the 9s with a stock transmission, transfer case, and stock axles on an AWD car. He has grenaded 1 T-case. 1. The axles are fine. When you are drag racing on a good set of slicks, the sidewalls should flex enough when you launch properly to absorb a lot of the shock.

Sidestepping the clutch on street tires where you are loading and unloading the axles as the tire grips, slips, grips, slips and grips some more is when you break stuff.

Last time I tore a boot, I bought a replacement boot kit from Checker. It was less than $10 and, while messy, not hard to do.

I agree with everyone here.

I agree that it is crazy to just throw 400 bucks at a set of axels because you 'think' your going to make some power and the stockers wont handle it. You could put that 400 into something better or an upgrade to get you going faster in the first place.

But then you do have guys like the zero dude (who we havent seem or heard of in months) who are going to make some big power and these would be a great insurance product for someone like him.

I personally, would buy them. Am I buying them because I think I am going to come out and bust a stock axel? No. But I have read that last huge thread on axels we had I think about a year ago, of someone who was makin decent power and busted the stocker, an autozone and he was then happy with a napa axel. I just like having assurance so I am not stuck on the side of the road with broken parts. Tow truck plus Mikes widebody always resuslts in something broken.

So anyway, sounds to me like this guy already has his mind set that he wants a set of these, and power to him. I like that this guy is trying to help out the community guys here that 'think' they may need a set of stronger parts on there car. Also, someone said that they can get oe axels from autozone for $65. No you cant, those are shit axels, everything autozone sells is shitty and more than likely, they are remans. Dont to me they are great, because they may fit good and drive okay, but they are not OE axels. Parts like this, I never skimp out on the money, I go straight to the dealer to get a quality made oem part. I guess its just me since I work on cars all day for a living and I see the difference every day in the quality of a aftermarket (autozone, napa, federated, etc) versus a quality oem dealership part.

They are remans. Remanufactured OEM axles. I've helped install them on two cars with no problems.

One of them dynoed at 195hp/235 ft/lbs of torque and then we fixed 3 or 4 boost leaks and had to turn the boost back down. He never had any problems with the remans.

At only 195hp, you shouldnt have any issues with any axels out there. Correct.

for 400.00 its not a bad deal only raxles knows the demand wont be high enough long before you called. Truth is, our axles and transmission are not the weak point of our platform. This isnt a getrag trans, our trans supports well over 500whp before it blinks an eye. The axles, although not the greatest have held up very well. If i had trust in raxles, i would purchase a set for added insurance; however, 90% of your memebers here are 10 years younger than me and are happy with a 2gnt that has 250whp under the hood.

The people like Dino, Dougie2, Myself are far and few between these days. There is no incentive for raxles to produce our axles regularily. best thing to do is ask for a one off set and pass the word that they can make them.

Incorrect. I busted many Napa axles (always got the free replacement so I kept going for awhile) before I gave up the ghost. Replaced with 150k-ish stockers and that's what's on the NA now. No problems.

The Napa's are only good for run around on the street (I traded them with a buddy for the axles that I have on my NA right now. He's had no problems with them).

Just FYI.

So I am guessing that nothing is being made or what?

I am in need of a set of axels.
