108972, New motor in, cranks but won't fire Posted by bluespunk, Jun-14-08 09:08 AM
My unlce got the new motor in, and it cranks effortlessly. The entire car gets voltage, with exception to the ignition. Because of that, the car won't spark.
I've never had any problems with the ignition before. The book (haynes) says if it's not the crankshaft sensor then it's a short or bad fuse. There is no power prior to the crankshaft sensor, so I think I can rule that out. The fuses are all fine, and my uncle has been tracing wires all day, but so far he hasn't found the problem. Any suggestions?
PS, he checked the fuses inside the car and under the hood.

Check the Cam angle sensor. Make sure that none of the wires are loose. Also, I believe the VSS and the coil pack clips are the same. Make sure you don't have them hooked up in reverse.

change the crank sensor and call it a day
95% of the no start thread related to swapping or rebuilding an engine turn out to be a bad crank sensor
