108301, DSM's lend me your ears

Great now that I got your attention

I BLEW MY MOTOR!!!

i think lol....well heres the story

I have 1997 mitsubishi eclipse rs-Turbo
I got a garrett t3 turbo with custom down pipe
sidemount IC
Turbo xs BOV
12:1 Fmu
running 0-5 lbs of boost daily sometimes 8lbs when im feeling dumb
ngk spark plugs and thats what i was running for like 3 weeks max. I know i know i didnt tune it or get fuelpump or a safc back then or injectors back then
Now I do have the injectors and the safc. So anyways for the past hummm week and a half I had something called a "lifter tap" usally when you dont have the right amount or oil pressure also when it gets dirty. Or so I heard. I knew it wasnt piston slap because it wasnt a countinous taping, only when rolling or at low rpm i hear lifter tap. When im at WOT its not there oh and also at start up its not there.
The past two days its gotten worse. When at idle I can hear it with my windows rolled up and everything. So today I went to go install A SAFC(super Air flow Contoller) Made sure everything was right and set my safc to what I needed it to be so my car no longer starves of gasoline. First 30 sec of startup my car was shakeing. After that started to hear metal to metal. Turned it off and looked at where my Exhaust Mani and my turbo connects and there was oil. Looked at my exhaust and there was Pure white smoke.
So two things come to mind of what happed.
I ran really rich and blew a gasket. ill try to get vid of it and try restart it tomorrow. and show exactly what is happening. If my motor did blow. Can I just replace the pistons and crankshaft? oh yea and gaskets. thanks for reading

Heres the vids watch them in order

wow, you have a lot of stupid things going on.

First off, you dont need an AFC with stock injectors.
Second, why are you running the stock fuel pump, thats a big no no.
Third, You could probably have a bad lifter or even a broken/colapsed lifter and that could very well be your metal noise, it could be ratteling around under your valve cover.
Fourth, I have never heard of running rich and blowing a gasket out.
Fifth, if you have oil coming of your exhaust ports on the cylinder head, thats not good.
Sixth, white smoke equals coolant being burned in the exhaust chambers. Possible leaking valve or stem seal, or a blown headgasket.

If I were you, to start out with, I would throw down a compression check, then take off your valve cover and make sure everything is gravy under there. Then start to look into your oil in the exhaust ports.

Just my .02

EDIT: Your videos dont work either

Sounds like compression test time to me as well. I had the same thing happen to my engine when I installed a Hahn turbo system on a stock bottom end. Ended up needing to overbore and get new pistons and rings. I don't know the mileage on your block but as your bottom end ages your cylinders gradually wear to a larger diameter.

How do I know what kind of pistons size I need. tryin to look for 8:8:1 pistons or stock. How do I know what bore size i need. and things like that

If you're going to leave the block the same and just hone the cylinders, then you need standard size. If you're taking the block to a machine shop to have them bore the cylinders, let them tell you what size you need. I'd go with the latter and take the crank to them as well. They'll tell you what size bearings you'll need if they turned the crank, too.

hey sadc I told you these guys know there shit. only 10 posts here, You need to live here and search search search the answers are here.

I would talk to snyders in waipahu they fixed my tranny when I broke it. They build engines too cool guys.

did you find a block yet or are you gonna use the jacked one. I can talk to tony (xchawaii on speedhawaii.com) there was a 420a block at the schofield junkyard looked in good shape.

Get a cherry picker and an engine stand.....

Tools of the trade.

This is probably the first of many motors you're going to toast.

1. It's an safc. Super airflow converter. Not a safac. My ears started to bleed when i heard that.

2. Those things are useless on your car. You have all the engine management you need when you installed that fmu. Sell the safc and buy a walbro 255hp and some thicker gauge wire. Our computers dont like piggyback bullshit. FCD's are fine but other than that, you're wasting your time.

Read, read and read some more. Before you put anything else on your car, research it well until the surface of your eyeballs starts to dry up and crack.

lol I cant find anywhere that I put safac?
So I can even tune my car with the safc at all? Someone was telling me get a FCD or a Safc. Went with the safc but damn if it dosnt do anything then way waste! How hard is it to swap motors. Im some what new at this. For me I think the hardest part is to put everything back together. Taking apart is the easyest
