107537, Thermostat Installation Gasket/Seal Posted by zwickyj, Jan-31-08 01:50 PM
I am trying to replace the thermostat and at first I baught the thermostat seal and it didn't seem like it fit and it didn't leaked everywhere, now I purchased a 180 from AutoZone and it came with a preinstall seal, LINK, And I have a gasket which clearly with the seal on there the gasket means nothing, What do I need to do this, I know it's common maitanance.

The new thermostat I got has a big seal on it and when I place the thermostat in the housing it does seal tight all the way, I also purchased a thin gasket, I don't know what to use, This is what it looks like

Pull that rubber seal off of the thermostat and throw it on the ground. Use the thin gasket between the housing and neck and you will be just fine.

The rubber seal is not for use on our cars. Remove it.
