i just got this gauge today. i tried searching for it but came up empty handed. where does the sender unit connect? i understand everything except where to put the oil sender.

It's on the back of the block facing the firewall. Not allot of room to work up in there but it can be done. You need some T fittings from Pep Boys so you can hook up the new sender unit and the old one unless you want your oil pressure warning light on all the time.

do you know what fittings i need? can you give me an idea on what to look for on the back of the block. is it or line or something?

is this something i should wait to do while i instal my turbo?

How long untill you install your turbo? Just go to Pep Boys and explain what you are trying to do with the T fittings they should be able to help you out. I know there use to be a wright up on what size fittings you need but I can find it and I can't remember the sizes off the top of my head. Make sure you wrap the threads with teflon tape so you don't leak oil. On the back of the block there is the stock sender unit sticking out it whould have some wires running out the back of it. It's hard to get to and hard to get tools up in there.

Wait and do it with your turbo. The stock sending unit is where you'll have to plumb the feed line for your turbo, so once you get the T fitting with your kit think about drilling and tapping another holr in it for your gauge sending unit.

Do you have to hook up the stock sender? It won't cause any kind of weird behavior from the ECU will it?

i should tap another hole where? in the t fitting or in the back of the block where the stock sending unit is? confused a little. couldn't i just get a different fitting?

No need for the stock sender unit, but if you don't have it you will have to look at your check oil light everytime you drive.

Just another bulb to take out (along with the CEL) ;-)

I had my sender hooked up w/ out the stock sender and never saw the oil light...It just won't come on when your oil pressure is low. But of course you have the gauge so...

..but by the time the light comes on, it's too late..

If you were talking to me I just meant that the oil light wouldn't come on when the factory sender is unplugged.

yeah like dino said the oil light i smore like the oh shit light cause when it comes on you gotta put it in neutral and turn the car off geton the side of the road and walk.
