107171, 2.4 Brothern I need Your Aid Posted by TheGhost, Dec-18-07 01:15 PM
I have used to Search button but failed to come up with any knowledge that I can call concrete.
I have read skrilla's write up about the 2.4 swap. I consider this the very first of my useful information. I understand that I can use a 2.0 head with a 2.4 block but which head gasket do I use. I also realize that a motor mount must be made on which side. I read that I can advance the magnet or rewire the injectors was that with the 2.4 head or the 2.0 head.
I have lots of questions and I believe it be time for a write up of how to do it ... I bought the block got a spare head from another 2gnt and just want to know how much I really am about to get myself into. I also am going to turbo this motor and would like to know what exactly can I do to prepare for this.
I understand that the 2.4 take much more air than a 2.0 and I wonder will the 2.0 computer be able to handle such mass amounts or will I have to take it to get the ecu reflashed. What would be a good ecu alternitive. As well as the difficulty of making the bracketry. Please help winters here and I want to Ricky Bobby by Summer. Thank You all 2G gods who reply ...
I have nothing to offer but my dignity I would my pride but my girl has that underneath the kitchen cabinet.

Not only can you...it would be very to use the 2.0L Head. 2.0 Headgasket.

Passenger side.

Advance the Cam position Sensor 90* AND Rewire the injector harness. 1to2 2to3 3to4 an 4to1

It's not for beginners.

heh. That's all depends on what you want to do with the car.

I think you need to read a little more on how to turn your car. I run the stock ECU just fine.
What would be a good ecu alternitive.
Lots of ppl use MegaSquirt...but I'm afraid you a little over your head already.
As well as the difficulty of making the bracketry.
That part was the easiest for me. I don't really understand why ppl stress about it so much.
Just remember...baby Steps. My suggestion for you would be to turbo you stock block. Learn the ins and outs of the 420A and learn how to tune before you delve into the 2.4. You'll be able to use alot of the hardware and knowledge when you make the leap.

+1 this is a good route make your 2.0 a 2.2 stroker. alot less work zero fab work. buy a stroker 2.2 kit and build or have the block built. almost all the benefits of a 2.4. you can run a little bigger turbo with better spool up cause you are moving more air.
look em up howellautomotive.com

So if I can use a huge cam and get away with it why not use the connecting rods and pistons out of the 2.4 if the bearings sizes are the same.

The same as what? they're not the same, 2.0L vs 2.4L.

Definitely need to read through all those previously posted threads thoroughly. As they say "Read till your eye's bleed!" All your questions can be answered in Alain's write-up and the other collective 2.4 threads.
