What does mandrel bent technically mean? What is the other type of bend? How does mandrel bent help us?

Mandrel Bending, is the bending of pipe with the use of a mandrel bending machine. What it does is actually bends the pipe to what ever degree needed but gives it a nice smooth bend rather then a press bend which is all crinkley. Mandrel bent piping flows much better as there is no restriction from the pipe, thus giving you better exhaust flow.

well, not as much restriction, there is always gonna be some restriction caused by bends of any kind, but yeah, mandrel is the only way to go, its just damn expensive, but worth it.

a mandrel bent exhaust was bent on a machine that costs twice as much as a pipe crusher. the other type of piping is regular aluminum piping usually used in plumbing. it is very malleable and used for exhasuts. when you bend the alluinum piping it crushes and loses it's roundness. mandrel bent exhausts are usually made of stainless steel which is alot stronger and wont dent if you bottom out and is lighter in weight. they also stay round through the bends which is why they flow better than most crush bent exhausts. stainless steel also retains heat better which would help the gasses flow but most of the difference is in the bends. price wise the difference between havein an exhaust shop bend you one and buyin one from a big name isn't worth the gain in performance. plus if you find a good muffler man you won't really notice the difference between them. plus some of the big name ones have resonators which muffle the sound some but can also give the sound associated with that company.

Basically Mandrel Bend keeps the same pipe Diameter throught the bends were as press bending does not.

Is our stock piping mandrel bent? An exhaust shop told me our stock 2.25" piping is better than press bent piping. I think we don't really need new piping unless pushing over 175 hp or so (for an auto at least), since gst's have 210 hp and use the exact same piping as us.

muffler shop also told me that too. out stock piping is the is 2.25. they told me to go with 2.5 piping no resonator so i was like hell naw my shit will sound loud ass fuck. i dont think aftermarket exhausts wont do shit for our cars only make us sound faster ahaha. im still able to hang with eclipses that have full cat back after market exhuasts with jess a hayame muffler. plus i sound hella fast dood haha
