I got everything torn down and taken out but i cant get the head to seperate from the block. im doing a hg job on a 420a. please help asap

Try a rubber mallet. The head is probably wedged onto the alignment dowels. I few careful whacks upward should do the trick. Don't hit any delicate structures though...

Are you sure you've got EVERYTHING off? The first time I did it I had the same problem. Turns out I missed removing one of the brackets that bolts it to the block underneath the intake manifold.

Oh yeah, plus what Paul said above me. LOL

Definitely check the intake manifold brackets. They are easily missed if you don't remove the intake manifold before removing the head. Tricky little bastards. Easily viewable from underneath. Depeneding on if you have cruise control or not the Cruise Vac. resevoir might be blocking your path.

Hey thanks guys it was the intake mani bolts, hahahaha this 160k head gasket looks terrible

this is good to keep in mind, I had forgotten about the support brackets on the intake mani, and I might be changing the head soon
