106268, Jeep tb spring? Posted by susafuss, Sep-21-07 05:26 AM
First i know there is alot of post on this subject but alot of them are older and no longer have working pics.
Ok so i have the jeep tb that i bought off of a member and it has been altered so it will work for the 420a just like the write up by Jim. But the jeep spring that is on it no longer has the tension needed to work properly.
so i am trying to figure out a solution, i have heard people using both jeep springs and then modding them to work and i have heard people using the stock eclipse spring and modding it to work.(unfortunitly i have only one jeep spring and i don't want to mod the stock tb on the car so i don't want to use that spring).
so what are people using that is affective, please help, also pics would be awesome.
thanks, kevin

Thanks dude, yea i am wondering if i should just try to find another jeep spring, but i don't want this to happen again down the road.
I have checked a couple of hardware stores in the area too, and i have yet to find a spring that could work for it(nothing close to being the right size).
Also i did some more searching and i think jim talks about this happing to him as well and he talks about adding another spring(but now i can't find where i saw it)

This is the only pic I have of my previous set-up.

It's a little awkward but it worked. I made a slight notch in the arm to get it to stay. The other end was bolted to the throttle cable hold down. If I remember correctly, I went through 2 springs in two years.

any way did you find a solution to it or did you switch to using a different tb, i think i will have to try what you did

That solution worked fine for me. Like I said, had to replace the spring once in 2 years. I'm running a MP 60mm on the race car now just because it looks prettier :* The Jeep is on my daily but that has no engine in it right now (switching to the 10.5 from the race car).
