Ok, So yea I'm new to the forums, I've been searching on here for quite some time for data. Overall, excellent. You guys are great for data on the 420A. But to the problem at hand,I have a 98 eclipse stock. The problem is that at about 5.5k rpms the engine wants to cut-out it feels alot like a rev-limiter, I changed the air filter today and it still does it only at WOT now. So is it the MAF or could it possibly be the CPS or the CAS? Please give me some of the 2gnt wisdom that I see so much of here before I start buying parts! Thanks.

Welcome to the forums. What kind of maintenance have you done to the car? Plugs, wires, could be a culprit. If you haven't swapped those for new stuff, might as well. They are cheap replacements from your local autoparts store and could be an easy fix. I would recommend some Bosch plug wires and NGK-BKR6E plugs gapped to .42

And BTW, our cars have MAP sensors, not MAF sensors.

AAh my bad lol I changed the plugs out about 10k miles ago, the oil was changed about 3k miles ago. Other than that just the air filter today. I'm running bosch Platinum +4's, but the plugs are fine I pulled them and it seems just fine except for the amber color on the ceramic part of the plug and there's really no carbon buildup. So go figure. So you think the MAP is the likely culprit?

Those plugs are junk. Get rid of them and the breakup will likely stop.

LOL I knew they were crap after I bought them. Well I guess that's what gimmicks get you...Haha So you assume it's just plugs? If so being a broke college student isn't as bad as I assumed. I'll buy some plugs and see if that works. I appreciate the help!

The NGK's run about $5 for all 4 of them so don't worry about them being expensive.

Wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter too if it's never been done. That could also cause this problem.

Like everyone else said, get rid of the bosch +4's they aren't a gimmick but they just don't work in our cars (my jeeps I had loved them)

I use denso wires and NGK v-groove plugs. Haven't been happier with the way my engine runs.

My car misfired, my rev limiter was f-ed up and was generally running like shit. My mopar wires took a dump on me and so did the plugs. The ceramic insulator melted on the ones that were in there.....denso iridium.
