is it really high pitched... check to see if the gromet or rubber thing that sits in a hole under the passenger side of the car on the firewall.. people have run power cable through this for stuff and sometimes may not seal right and that will allow the noise from the engine to get through there, and the belts and such are on that side so there is a slight hum and whir to them when accelerated.

it could.. might just be the belt slightly slippin and making a chirping sound.. mine does that a little, but it needs to be changed anyways... soon though :-)

Does it sound like a turbo spooling up? Does it do it in the morning then die off as the car warms up? I had this same problem. First place I took it to said they couldn't figer it out. Second place said it was in the transmission. The 3rd place said it could be either the timing belt was on too tight, since I just had that done, or in the transmission. They also said not to worry too much about it, but if it got worse then bring it in. But check this out. I broke my power steering belt and guess what, no more noise. So apparently it was the power steering belt.
What I did notice about my belt, before it broke, that the pully was slightly off alignment, about an 1/8". So I think that might have something to do with it. But you could have a different problem alltogether. Hard to say with out actually hearing the noise. Hope this helps.

I am gonna get an afx pulley after xmas. Mine sounds like a turbo spooling really loud. Some people have thought I got turbo b/c of the noise and asked what it was. You can hear it outside the car. My intake and exhaust drowns it out for the most part, but I think it sounds kinda cool if it is all good and not hurting anything.
