Ok so my mechanic found out today that the ACT cluctch I bought for my 420A is really for the 4G63 so, rather than talk to me about it, he went down to Schuck's and got a "Dynopak" clutch kit/flywheel for $249.99 + tax and insists it is equally as good ast the ACT despite the fact that the ACT kit WITHOUT the flywheel was $340...

What do you guys think of ACT compared to Dynopak? I found an ACT kit + flywheel for my 420A engine from a different website that I want to have rush ordered ...

If it was in stock at Schucks, then it must be an excellent quality high performance product. If your mechanic thinks a clutch is a clutch, then you might suggest that a shop is a shop and you should take your car elsewhere. You ordered the ACT for a reason, so I would not accept any substitutes because they are cheap and convenient.

that dynopak will make your pedal feel like mush (I should know I have one) and willl not hold up to anything more than stock power levels.

GREAT!! Of course at this point the engine is already installed (although not running; currently at a dealership to fix that HOPEFULLY...my mechanic can't figure it out, neither can 3 other mechanics we've tried...) so it's a huge labor bill to take it all out and switch the clutch out...

Now i just hope this piece of crap clutch holds up to 300hp up to 7000rpm frequently....causeif it goes, thats probably a $1000 labor fee to install a new one? Great....

Good news though: ACT is working on clutch kits for the 420a!

but do you plan on goin mod or non mod ?
because act does not make nothing for the 420a you would have to order from the act factory yo make you one.. (the same shit happened to me )

Eh, I would just get it over with and get the correct clutch in there. I have heard many good things about SBC and my friend has one and loves it. I would order from them personally.
