Hey guys, This might be a damn question. Thus the sohc neon engine block fit ours? Will it bolts to our cylinder head and oil pan? I'd seen alot of those at the yard and no one seem to want it.

It may .. I believe the answer is yes, but i am not 100%.

I also think it does (in terms of neon blocks, without addressing SOHC vs. DOHC). Why? From observing the salvage yards part listings, they list the Neon blocks interchangeably with the 420a eclipse/talon/avenger/sebring blocks.

To carry that over in terms of SOHC vs. DOHC makes sense as well, but I can't commit to a completely definitive answer to that yet.

i have a 1g motor not block as to put in but not as a spare. he is talking about switching blocks not motors. imo he's better getting stratus block, crank, and internals to get 2.4ltr

Well, Kory, you might as well just have the 6 bolt block handy, as the 2G head is much better if it is ported to hell. The 1G ports are oversized and the airflow path is unrefined. It has been benchtested that the ported 2G intake manny on the 4G63 is better then the 1G. As for the 420A, it is a good idea to get a whole motor, but if you just get the block, you can make the motor capable of handling gobs of power. The head for us is not too bad of a restriction, nor is it an issue in reliability in a high HP 420a. I would just go ahead and get a whole motor and build it up. Oh, wait, that is what I am doing. :-D

I really don't think it's an issue of better or worse. It's a matter of attaining a spare block and building it up without pulling your current in-use block and building it up.

I believe the only difference between a dsm 420a and a neon 420a (SOHC or DOHC) are the heads. Otherwise, it's all the same. Just think...acquire a neon block for a couple of hundred bucks, get it to a machine shop, have them throw in the internals, and then do a block swap (if not an entire engine swap). Saves you the time of having you car down for all the engine pulling, balancing, blueprinting, boring, and internals buildup. You just have to wait for the new stuff to be put it. Besides that, it appears that neon blocks tend to be significantly CHEAPER than 420a blocks.

It's a plan that I've been entertaining for a long while.

Interesting think I might go that route when I got some money to burn :)

Hades: i don't know about engine block price yet. I wanna make sure it fit first. I gave my autometer boost guage to my bro. cause i found a greedy boost guage and a greddy BOV at the yard.
