Hey guys.. see if you guys can help me.... I had my car off for a good 12-14 hours in a garage. Got up in the morning to pull the car out and when i turned the key the needle shot straight up from Cold to Hot... like instantly. When i turned the key, the needle fluctuated at idle and when i reved the motor. After about 1 minute the needle went all the way back up to Hot. When I shut the car down, the neeele slowly goes back down to cold. Thermostat works perfectly as well as the water pump. I have already changed the thermostat, both sensors on the radiator neck. ( Coolant Temp and Leveling sensor) As well as my entire gauge cluster and speedo. This is seems obvious that it is an elecrtical problem at this point. Anyone else had this happen to them? What did you do to correct it? thanks

Are you sure you've got all the air out of the system? Needle shouldn't act funny until the engine is warmed up in that case, so I can't say for sure, but usually this sort of thing is caused by steam pockets in the system. Leave the cap off and start the engine. Let it idle and add coolant as needed to keep the level up. Be sure you have the heater on as well when you do this.

Its possible you have a corroded wire or short between the ecu and the sensor (that harness runs stupid close to the EGR valve and often gets melted). If you find that bleeding the system doesnt help then find the pinout off the ecu for the sensor and re-run a new wire. There's two sensors, one that connects to the Ecu and i believe the other is for the guage only (the top is for the ecu, bottom for guage - verify this with a search but I think that's correct).

That's a crossed wire (since you pretty much replaced everthing else ;-)). Cold to hot instantly while car is cold is normally electrical.
