105086, idleing issues Posted by Idontgotnothn88, Jul-06-07 01:03 PM
I have a 99 gs and i just put on a custom 14b turbo kit. Here is the problem. I was giving it a test drive and it worked great at first for a good 3 miles then all of a sudden with my foot on the gas the rpms fell to almost dieing on me. I had to drive it home by very lightly pressing on the gas or else it would drop rpms and die. When i got it home i checked what i could think of (plugs, wires, vaccuum fuel pump and replaced the fuel filter, cleaned the TB and AIC) I went to start her back up but it was very ruff for a good ten seconds and finally started but jumped right up to 4000+ and kept going. I checked vaccumm lines over and over and couldnt find any leaks. When i step on the gas it immediatly drops the rpms and dies. Fuel? Im stumped. Searched a lot and found to replace TPS, Map sensor, CTS and/or AIC could it be any of these and which one should i replace first?

my guess is fuel pump, or spark did you do the rewire mod? remove the back seat, then shut your self in the car with the doors and windows closed. turn the key to "run" and listen for the Fuel pump. check the fuel filter too
how new is the coil? upgraded or stock? is the engine OEM? meaning is it the same that came with the car? sometimes when ya blow an engine they get replaced with enginse from 95-96, and lazy mechanics wire into the older style conectors instead of using the newer parts.
lastly check the relays in the drivers firewall for conection or function issues

I would have to say check the reays located at the drivers firewall as well.

I have a wally pump and i can hear it and the fuel filter is brand new it doesnt have any miles on it just when i turn on the car. I havent done the rewire on the pump. Is it really necessery? I havent checked the coil or the relays i will check those out.

I replaced the tps, rewire mod, and a new msd coil and my problem did a complete flip flop. it still takes 10 secounds to get it started but when it deos it idles at 200 and the motor shakes like its about to jump out of the car. My vaccumm is at 0 and the brake pedal is locked. The car still dies when i press the gas even when i press it lightly it wont even rev up. The fuel pump primes and works. Im completely clueless, I've been searching and trying anything i can do with the tools and money i have and still cant fix my car.

Replace the CLT sensor, the front o2, do a compression test, the usual routine. What codes are you pulling? Use a reader to find out. Have you pulled the plugs and looked at them? Are you sure you are getting spark and fuel on all cylinders?

yes i have pulled the plugs to check them. i tried using the keydance but it didnt work or its not showing any codes. I will go to autozone to check the codes. y would vaccumm be at zero i have checked all the lines none are clogged or pinched?

just replaced the o2 sensor and the cts. still nothing. when i can finally get it to idle it jumps between 200-500rpms then strait up to 4000 and the vaccumm is back but to about 10-15. and the turbo is puking oil out the intake and exhaust so i will now have to rebuild it. i will run the codes tommarow. this is pissing me off so bad i havent had drivability of my car for 2 months now.

the car is out of commission again. Im throwing no codes my compression was 195,200,210,210. I have cleaned the IAC, and new TPS,CTS,new O2 sensors,MSD ignition coil, fuel filter and throttle body gasket. When i start my car i have to crank it for a few secounds and will hold on at around 200rpms then finally catch and idle up correctly. The vacuumm geos back and forth between 18-10 and the engines tries to keep up and bounces between 500-1200rpms.It cant handle a load at all. I cant drive it, when i step on gas the vaccuum geos to 0hg immediatly (which i assume means the sensors and air flow respond correctly) and the rpms drop immediatly and the car dies. Fuel? THe fuel pump primes and whines like it should. The A/F gauge falls to lean. I cant figure this one out.

I remember when I rebuilt my car and cranked it up it would automatically jump up to about 5000 rpms and vac. at 0. when I would hit the gas it would go down to about 200-300 rpms and jump back up then eventually die. Come to find out My egr pipe wasn't screwed in tight enough to the back of the intake manifold. Screwed it in tight and fixed the problem. Don't know if it will help but I would at least checked to see if my egr system is screwed to the intake manifold tight.

so perhaps if i were to get an egr block off kit that might be it.

could a bad relay cause the car to bog? or maybe the fuel pump wiring is bad, causing it to die when i hit the gas? it primes when i turn it on and it whines while its running. Like i said everything seems to run good with a little bit of up and down idleing but when the gas geos in the car dies. please help i want to drive my car again.

This is a new one for me...
Your compression looks good. my are at 230 in all cyl. So you checked everything and still the same.
Did you ever get a chance to check the fuel pressure??? And the car's CEL is off and no codes, Correct? (Did you use a scanner) I may have missed the answer to this question.
BTW: If you live not to far from me, I can take a ride to you and hopefully resolve this problem. I live in Phila, PA and the machanics here are as dumb as they get... Well at least most of them...

I used and obd2 scanner and no codes came up. I havent checked fuel pressure which I know I should have done already but havent. But fuel only seems to be the problem when i hit the throttle. I live in Dallas,TX the machanics around here that know what they are doin dont even want to touch my car just because its a DSM.:( Any others dont know what they are doing either they just know how to change oil.

TX, thats far. I guess I cant take a ride up there...
Did you ever get a chance to check the fuel Pressure. also, are you running a OEM or an Upgraded Fuel Pump...
And what about the Fuel Press Regulator...
