Well, I have been one of those members who just hides in the shadows and reads other peoples posts for the past year and a half. I have learned a lot and saved a lot of time through reading others posts, and for that I a very grateful. Now the time came where I need help.

I was on my way back to Eau Claire, WI from Minneapolis when it happened. I was just cruising along in fifth gear when all of a sudden the gas pedal felt a little wierd so I gave it some gas but there wasn't any power. Im like OH great, I had just put a deposite down on a 1996 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD in Minneapolis and planned to sell my car in the next week or two.

So I pull over, the car sounds like its not firing on all cylinders. The exaust was like putt putt putt. I shut the car off, pop the hood, everything looks fine. Call my dad, he comes, start it up and attempt to drive it to the next exit to get it off the interstate. We made it about half a mile before my dad stopped because he smelled something burning or melting. He shut the car off and popped the hood. The ignition the cylinder 2 and 3 part of the coil had cracked open and oozed plastic. My dad disconnected number 2 and 3 wires hoping to still get the car off the interstate. But it wouldn't start.

We got the car towed home. So the yesterday I picked up a new ignition coil and a flat pin connector to replace my round one with since all the parts stores in town only had the flat pin ignition coils. I soldered in the new plug and installed the new ignition coil. My dad tested all the plug wires and checked out the plugs and they all were fine.

Now the car wont start. It sounds fine as I try to start it, it just won't fire.

Any ideas...

Check the 30A motor fuse in the fusebox.

Hey, thanks. Replaced the blown fuse, so she starts again.

It ran great for about a minute and now its misfiring again. Also the cylinder 2 and 3 part of the coil is getting extremely hot.

Any thoughts???
