104739, Dyno numbers... it's a TURD! Posted by N4cer, Jun-13-07 05:01 PM
My buddy is starting a shop, and put his dyno in this week. We ran some of our cars on the dyno for fun. Then for laughs we put my 2gnt on the dyno. I now hold 2 records: Highest dyno numbers - my Camaro Lowest dyno numbers - my Eclipse Actually the Eclipse is 2nd. 1st is our buddy on a bicycle. LOL!
So the Eclipse is bone stock, 110k on the odo. It only made 101hp and 93ft/lbs of torque. That's horrible! Should a stock auto be so weak?
I'd like to hear from people who have actually put theirs on a dyno in stock form, or HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN it happen. Anybody know how this compares? We're thinking there's something wrong with the car, but it runs too smooth to have something messed up, I think.

I don't think it's too far off. I think I remember reading someone with just a cai making about 120 at the wheels.
Yup, time to turbo it!

Yeah that seems about right. I used to drive an auto...it sucked.

Sounds about right. I doubt only a CAI intake made the eclipse around 120 whp. Here is an old dyno graph from VX100 with a CAI + a lot more bolt-on's and look what he made:

I bet that dyno run took a while to get to redline in fourth gear!

I think that sounds about right, the cars old and auto. I'd say the few dyno sheets I've seen of a stock eclipse/near stock eclipse have usually been around the 105-115 mark. Maybe it's a bit on the low end, but nothing that would make me think anything was seriously wrong. I'd like to get mine dyno'd with and without the wastegate spring in, just to see the differences between boost and no boost for shits and giggles. Maybe one day.
Now for the important question. What did the bicycle make? :D

yeah thats about right, I put mine and only ran 128 whp. V2 intake, ebay 4-1 header and downpipe, tsudo 2.5" catback, afx udp, no ac/ps. I have more to come though:)

I am curious how long it took to get the roller going fast enough to get a measurement. (if it even measured it

Here's the post the dyno owner made when they did the bicycle:
"Jarvis was the first person on the dyno. The tach signal didn't pickup his pulse when clamped on his root, nor did the wideband give much data when shoved up his ass, but we did get some HP runs. On foot he (not his car) made just shy of 1/2 a HP but ran out of speed since its hard to run much faster than that on a roller that has less than 2 feet exposed. Then I loaned him my 7 year old daughters bike so he could put down some big numbers. First pull he made about 3/4 of a HP. But he new he had more in him, took a shoot of the skull & cross bones, stretched it out to 12mph and made almost 1 full HP. (Which is harder than you think with 2 people balancing a bike 2 foot in the air by hand).
I need to get this fucker in the ground before someone gets hurt."

101 whp wooaahhhh! 1 whp on a bike, now thats what I'm talking about. Lets see....with a projected drive-line loss of...or.. errrrr....chain-loss of 15%, whoa 1.15 hp @ the hip. Whew, I'm spent, that was some rough math! Check please.
